In the doctor's office today a prepper guy and a fracking industry guy got into a debate about whether fracking polluted ground water. I think fracking does cause tremors, but is below the ground water level too significantly to cause pollution of it.

You're right Billy. fracking takes place about a mile below the water table. Plus the well is cased way below the water table in order to NOT contaminate the water. What many people may not realize is that in many areas in the US there is naturally occurring oil and natural gas that makes its way to the surface. And on many beaches the little tar balls that everyone blame's on drilling most actually come from natural seeps under the ocean floor. I'm not saying that some spills do occur but far more oil is leaked on roads and parking lots than from the oil industry.
I'm still not convinced that fracking causes tremors. Sure, while the process is going on they can measure some very minor tremors, but the tremors stop when they pull the equipment off the drill site and the well goes in to production.

Yeah, the guy who was anti-fracking did NOT represent his case well. The fracking guy was clean and neat and well-spoken, very logical and intelligent. The anti-fracking guy was dirty and smelly and going on about pollution of rain water and his tiny house recycling system. It was kind of embarrassing from a pro-prepper perspective.
