i am the only living thing on Barsoom.....i am an animal...well not sure if that dang chopper NASA sent counts as living..it buzzes like a skeeter from earth !!

I took a bus from Atlanta to NO when I was 19 and PG looking for my estranged party boy hubby. Nobody spoke english.:dunno:
Got lost in the French Quarters and a bunch of men were following me so I ran into a Cathlic church [ it was Sunday] begging for help, they thrrw me out, first experiance with them was not pleasant, but since have know a couple good Cajuns.

JJ Cale always sounded Cajun to me,

I listened to JJ in Cajun Moon, and scratched my head...whut??

To us, he qualifies as a beloved Yankee, lol. He is from way up North, in Oklahoma.

Here you go, sha...

New Orleans:

Just like New Orleans has dozens of different neighborhood accents, so does South Louisiana:

This is the Cajun accent that most people are familiar with (Justin Wilson). He sounds just like my sweet Mémère (grandmother). Turn on captioning to understand it.

This one sounds just like my brother (lived a bunch of years in Houma, LA). This guy makes me laugh. (His song "We Trawlin" is a good parody, too)

@elkhound !!!!

I see your Three Days Grace and raise you some Greta Van Fleet! (Those of us who cut our teeth on Led Zepplein have renewed hope in music once again after hearing these very young men play.)

In the first video, Highway Tune, they are a brand new garage band...very young (some are still in high school age in the video)

This voice....oh my... um, excuse me Mr. Robert Plant? Could you move over please? Here comes Greta Van Fleet...

Speaking of Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant, he had this to say about them:

Here they are after they have ripened just a couple more years...

Greta Van Fleet - Live at Red Rocks (September 24th, 2019) - Fully Filmed Concert

Then they (very recently) moved into this album:

Greta Van Fleet - Heat Above (Audio)

There's more but these songs will show you their range of magnificence.

@Grizzleyette___Adams well all righty then...these young men got it going on..highway song and heat above are great !

its the 70's and 80's again !

but i admit its going to be hard for me to get out of the 90's grunge/seattle sound ! especially since i lived there when the sound broke lose in 1990 !

~ sigh ~ love this one... the guitar solo increased my IQ, improved my blood pressure, my long hair grow longer, and made me cry. You will hear it midway through the song after the singer soars out of the abyss... 4:38 mark

Maybe when I was younger but these days not so much.

This song is dedicated to those we have lost...

The director's brand new cut of this fantastic video is righteous and honors the departed who played this song written by George Harrison: While My Guitar Gently Weeps. It is a huge improvement over the previously edited version.

RIP to those greats in this video who are no longer with us.

Notice George Harrison's son, Dhani, standing next to Tom Petty. His face goes through the full range of emotions during the song: from deep retrospect over his deceased father, to absolute JOY when the great Prince rips out the best solo he has ever done.

Also notice at the end of the song and his solo part: Prince throws his guitar heavenward...and where did it go???????

Lots of speculation among the comments on Youtube. One of them is right.

Enjoy what is no doubt the best version of this iconic song:

This well-made video has me in TEARS... I am homesick beyond words watching every frame and turn of my old stomping grounds, from New Orleans smooth on down the bayous...wow.

Ha. I just HAD to add this video to my private Youtube playlist that I named Pure D Good. This old swamp girl thanks you for posting it to this thread, Mr. Meer.

When I was just a little boy
Standin' to my Daddy's knee
My Papa said "Son, don't let the man get you
And do what he done to me?
'Cause he'll get you
'Cause he'll get ya now, now"
Well, I can remember the Fourth of July
Runnin' through the backwood bay
I can still hear my old hound dog barkin'
Chasin' down a hoodoo there
Chasin' down a hoodoo there
Born on the bayou
Born on the bayou
Born on the bayou
Lord, Lord
Wish I were back on the bayou
Rollin' with some Cajun Queen
Wish that I were a fast freight train
A-just a-choogling on down to New Orleans
Born on the bayou
Born on the bayou
Born on the bayou
Do it, do it, do it, do it
I can remember the Fourth of July
Runnin' through the backwood bay
And I can still hear my old hound dog barkin'
Chasin' down a hoodoo there
Chasin' down a hoodoo there
Born on the bayou
Born on the bayou, Lord, Lord
Born on the bayou
Alright, do
Do it, do it, do it, do it

You're very welcome Grizzleyette, Music can really move our emotions. Most of the time I seek out the ones which moved me, in my younger days.:)

Not sure why, but this song has been rolling around in my noggin. The lyrics are as powerful as the melody (and are included in the video.)
