Then they aren't preppers, they've either been misnamed by the media or themselves. Those who want confrontation and society to fail are anarchists.

Not preppers of whom we identify with!

perception destroys! I have visited many prepper sites and viewed a good number of youtube videos, we have good preppers and bad preppers ;)

Remember when you think what does the public think each of the general public has something going on that makes them look at the rest of us and say what do they think of us . I try to always do whats right and then it needs no justifacation . If you are white rural Southerner like me you get used to being stierotyped . Some of wich I don't mind .

Psalm, I thought you were just one of those gun savvy, Tennessee Volunteers, who just gets mistaken as one of those stereotypical Sothern folk. You could be like us Texan's who are labeled as having more guns in the state than people living here! Even us transplanted Yankee's with Texas license plates, get the look, when we enter Louisiana! lol. Remind me, JimLE, when we go to the national M&G to leave the big guns behind....lol.

Speaking of which, I need to get an update from my trooper friend to find out what the number registered number of guns are in the state.

All kinds of people out there Maverick. Like Psalm says, we get stereotyped. Hence, whey the prepper community is similar to the wolf in mindset. I certainly tell people I don't belong to no anti-government group or militia. My preps are strictly for my families survival.

I am sure if I lived in Montana, where my brother in law lived, I'd be just one of the boys. Head down to the town diner for some coffee and shoot the crap with my neighbors. I sorta miss that relationship living in the urban area, but until my wife decides to leave her oil job, we're stuck here. When Danil54grl, Gazrok, Brent or LW start talking about their animals, I get a bit envious, since our city laws are pretty strict about animal husbandry. Since I'm from the North Country of New York, I remember with fondness of all the great times, just wadding in the white mountain waters of Hudson River tributaries.

If I did live in the mountains, I'd have a big old banged up F-250 that would either tow my kayak trailer or my snowmobile trailer. I've got a used and new 4 wheeler parked in the garages, but they haven't seen the fields in 2 years. My closest friends know I am a prepper, hard to miss it all, when you step into the garage. I guess the LSU purple and gold is the first thing they see and then the prep stuff stored along the walls and my gun safe. Hard to miss it and at times I do get the question from the passer by neighbor.

Well enough said, time to go out and work on some kits.

Preppers don't have that bad of image problem . Look what people buy now days there is alot of closet preppers out there . There is bad in any group . I have had a couple of run in's with crazy types when I didn't reconize their natural leadership potintial . Watch the one's that like to hear themself talk and seem to always tell others what they should do to promote what ever cause they stand for . They will be glad to send someone out to be a crash test dummie .

FLIPS, that's funny. This is a great forum and thanks to all who comment. To be able to read intelligent opinions and facts by like-minded people, is very enjoyable. Btw, new to the forum, currently in Alaska and heading to Texas soon. Never been on tv. Well, made a few news articles a while back lol

Oh yeah, forgot about thread subject. Yes, we get bad wraps, but so do most who try and do the right thing it seems. I have 3 boys and my Wife who deserve to survive. After all, you should always try, never give up

you are so right on that, protecting your "flock" is the most impotant thing in the world, wish I could really enroll my oldest son to this, but for now it seems that girls and cars are what matters to him and I really can't say about my brother, his a mystery to me about prepping,we had a light "if something would happen" conversation over dinner a few weeks ago,he obviously had something planned like drive out to his summerhouse, ride out the storm there and he would rely on me for fishing and hunting 'cause I have the equipment for that

That is unfortunate but I'm sure he will come around. I was that stubborn son too. Now 33, it took me 30 years to understand what it could be like in any disastrous situation. Part of that was shown to me by US Army, which helped me be a better prepper lol. Obviously having a family accelerates your desire to be prepared. My Dad loves it and we are constantly planning/discussing actions and techniques. Hopefully you will have that one day. My boys are young but I dream of a "tribe" type mentality. 3 boys God gave me to be warriors so we will see haha.....

thanks I'll hope that if,I'll have my oldest son beside me, but in meantime lets prep and be as ready as we can

We had banana plants, but they never produced. They would die back in winter and never get big enough to bear.
Did you bring them in the house or greenhouse when it started getting cold? They are tropical plants, used to warmth year-round. You can't leave them out. Same with mandarin oranges. And coffee trees. You can't leave them outside in the cold.

Nice. Some may still see me on TV, if they watch an old episode of TLC's "A Wedding Story"....as they covered our wedding on one episode. Episode 82 I believe, is the number. Pretty cool experience, and makes me a bona-fide reality TV star, lol....(though "star" is hardly appropriate).

And thanks for the complement! (on thinking alike)
I am sorry! LOL. It is an experience to even have anything to do with reality TV! I worked on the set of Hillbillies for Hire, and a few more as a medic. However I never figured you as a reality TV "STAR". Love ya man mean it! Just had to pull your leg on that one!
Good luck, be safe, and God bless.

Good image or not it seems preppers are becoming more noticable . I was in Hastings today and looking for a copy of The Backwoodsman I found 3 new Prepper magazines and new copys of the Americian Survival Guide that I thought went out of bussiness in the mid 80's . I thought of Roni when I flipped through the A S G as Lynn Thompson is in a article on knives .
