I declined seeing my two morning dogs today because it was cold and snowing. My first afternoon client texted me, telling me she hadn't taken her dog out for her morning walk and asked if I was still going to take her to the dog park. I would have been happy to stay home, but I agreed to take the dog, no complaints or negative comments. This client is one who lost her mother to COVID a couple weeks ago and she has taken a month off of work because so many of her clients are insensitive to the grief of her loss and today is having her family over for dinner. Her mother cooked all the meals, never ate out, and now there is dad, all alone. When we returned from the dog park, I admired a beautiful bouquet of flowers she has. She said that since she lost her mother, she has the realization that instead of sending everyone flowers, she will in the future send money for, or order meals for people after all of this. Her father can cook, but he just hasn't been the family cook.

Went to the dog park and the wind was blowing hard and it was bitter cold. People came and didn't stay long, but I have made a 45 minute commitment so I stayed. Darn, it was cold! But the dog ran and got some good exercise, so she will be more knocked out when the house is filled with family this evening.

Then I normally take another dog to another dog park after this. Since I was out, I thought I'd just go do it. While at the dog park with this dog, I texted the client and told her about her dog's activities and that it was bitter cold. She responded that she was surprised I would even go out in this cold weather. Her dog was happy to fetch the ball for most of our 45 minutes there. I snuggled in blankets and many layers and used the chuck-it to toss the ball for the dog. It was so cold!

Cold yes, but all the snow that the sun shone on melted. Snow in the shade and shadows is still there, but only 1/3 of an inch.

What do you do when you know you can't stay awake but tornadoes and severe winds are expected all night? Have you ever gone ahead and gone to your shelter area for the night? How's the radio reception underground?
I have spent a few nights in a shelter , and do nap a little.
I have my phone , watch all the weather on it.

I watch radar myself on phone.
Makes a long night.
I figure this house has been standing 100 years soooo.

Hope yall fare well Jim.

My local weather stations are finally giving a firm timeline. Supposed to get bad here about 7am. Dad is normally up early so I just called and gave him a heads up. He'll be up around 0530. I get to sleep normally tonight, that's a first. Seems most storms get here at 0300.

They are always happy to see me. The first one this afternoon gets airborne when she sees me. One time she was in the backyard and heard me and went crazy. She was barking and carrying on. Her owner was on a business call and the backdoor was closed so she couldn't get in. When I came in, I could see out the window to the back door and she was leaping way up in the air. They call me the dogs best friend. She likes to sleep on the bed when I stay there and sit with me in the chair. She knows I am there just for her.

There's an EF 4 on the ground about 40 miles from me , leaving Tiptonville Tn , crossing into KY.
Largest tornado in history ever seen. People already killed, and major distruction
It's staying on the ground . Headed directly at us , hope it lfts when it gets to the lakes.
If not we will be headed to our shelter in basement.
Incredible size and strength.
