It can certainly change fast!
We had a perfect day going, bright sun, mid 90's, no wind.
I went down for a nap and when I woke up, it had turned upside-down in just 1-1/2 hours.
Temp dropped 18°, dark overcast sky, and a pesky wind.

Ah that's nothing try 40 or 50 degree drop in a few hours. One February we had a balmy +60 at 07:00 to a -30 by 19:00. Fortunately, it doesn't do that all the time but 20 to 50 degree drops happen all the time especially in the fall and spring.

One summer we got 6" to 8" of snow in August. Living in the high mountains is fun.

We are over just about 145,000 square miles. You ought to find some place you will like. We are semi-desert country from high mountains to prairie.

Were I live, the capitol, the mountains are from around 5,000 feet to a little over 9,000 feet. I live at around 4800 feet.

In July and and August temps can go as high as 100 degrees especially the prairies. Of course, the winters can go as low as -30 in some rural areas it go as low as -40/-50.

For what it’s worth all those “quizzes” say that my spirit animal is a bear (or occasionally a phoenix ‍). I like bears but have a healthy respect for them.

You had better have a healthy respect for all our bears but especially Grizzlies or you will quickly become bear poop.
