79°...... Can it make 80°?! The clouds are thinning out, could happen!! Had some rain in town early, nothing up my way! Shorts and a tank top sure are nice in December!!
Poo, the wind just shifted to the north! Not going to cool off much with this front, but I don't think it will hit 80°! Upper 40's tonight, upper 60's tomorrow!

This is "Typical" winter weather for South-Central Alaska.

This is what I don't get. Texans and other southerners are terrified of two things. These two things send southeners and Texas to supermarkets where they empty entire shelves of food. One of these two things shuts down traffic, shuts down business, shuts down schools. But yet, even though these two things terrify Texans and other southerners, these people love to decorate their homes with symbols and images and decorations of these two things. I assume by now, you know I'm talking about snow and cold. I don't get it. Even my stepsons church in San Antonio is planning a "snowball fight" for the youth. LOL! When he was a minister in Corpus Christi they had a "Polar Plunge" for the youth. I don't get it. Merry Christmas.

IMO, when the temp gets down to 80, Arizona is a frozen wasteland!
LOL - it's not all hot. Though this is our warmest year in the 15 years we've been here. It's usually high 50's this time of year, high 30's at night. We're running 5-15 deg high.

"The coldest temperature ever recorded in Arizona was -40° F at Hawley Lake in the White Mountains on January 7, 1971. The lake is located at an elevation of 8,200 ft."

Flagstaff runs lows in mid 20's to single digits, highs in 40-50's.

I live to be out in the desert on 116-118 degree days, with a cup of 3 day old black coffee in hand. This winter will be long and hard!

Simple, not hard to understand. Snow happens so rarely it's a festive occasion. Kids might get a couple days out of school (makes them very happy). Men get an extra day or two off work during hunting season. Women get a couple days away from work. These are reasons to celebrate!

Terror doesn't enter into the equation... Folks simply need extra groceries for the unplanned meals at home so they stop at the store before a storm hits, also understandable.

6 months of snow and ice is a good reason for suicide... So I can see where more snow does nothing for northerners, its just depressing.

Here, 2 days of snow or ice can be celebrated. 😁

We have HORRIBLE TXDOT (Texas Department of Transportation)! They have no way to properly clear roads! They put down BRINE (salt water ) days before a winter event, 🙄🙄🙄, THAT DOESN'T WORK! You are either SMART, stay home and be prepared, OR, be an idiot and get on the roads IN THE WAY OF THOSE WHO NEED TO GET OUT ( nurses, doctors, those on dialysis, etc.)!! I rarely watch TV, but I will put on the local news to watch the idiots who get stuck on the insane overpasses in DFW!! No fear here, just a reason for days off during winter storms! 😊❤️

Still have heavy frozen fog, and it's still snowing. There's snow predicted for every day up here, except for two, until Dec 30.
Our driveway is impassable right now. That's OK, we don't need to go anywhere until at least next Tuesday.
