Actually, we get a measurable gamma-ray burst about every two months and a 'really good one' about every 2 years (enough to disturb semiconductors and electronics).
Years ago they announced the exact time down to the minute when a really good one was going to hit so I was ready with my Geiger-counter running in my lap on the patio.
I didn't even get a few extra clicks:(.
I was totally bummed out.
It seems our atmosphere absorbs almost all of it and that's the reason we haven't all died from skin-cancer by now:rolleyes:.

According to drummer Ron Bushy, organist-vocalist Doug Ingle wrote the song one evening while drinking an entire gallon of Red Mountain wine. When the inebriated Ingle then played the song for Bushy, who wrote down the lyrics for him, he was slurring his words so badly that what was supposed to be "in the Garden of Eden" was interpreted by Bushy as "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida".
Basically, they thought it sounded better, so they kept the 'drunk' lyrics.
