Dinner will be a big bowl of chili... but breakfast today... I couldn't do this with my old stove. The only two matching eyes were both on the back, to far apart. LR and RF were close enough in BTU's but again the eyes were to far apart.
ON my new stove the LR and LF eyes are close in size, within 2K BTU's so I bought a flat none stick pan that will cover both... Pic's if I'm not explaining it right.
Anyway, I cooked bacon and pancakes at the same time on the same pan, they turned out great. The pan is wide enough for my cast iron bacon press as well. I like my new stove!
The pan is also perfect for sitting my little fry daddy on!
The new stove solved another messy problem... where to sit my bacon press when flipping a burger or bacon? I used to use tinfoil. It'd catch most of the grease but not all. I found this little baking pan I'd bought for some forgotten purpose. It's perfect for the press and I can slide it anywhere. The press doesn't go to the bottom of the pan so grease can drip off, a quick wipe with a paper towel and it's clean. Did I mention I like my new stove?
Already made tamales I'll be putting in the microwave. Frying up some hamburger and microwaving potatoes for burritos. I'll use the electric portable burner. Still no kitchen.
NY Strip steaks cooked in cast iron with butter, thyme, and fresh cracked black pepper. Along with button mushrooms, garlic, and asparagus sauteed in garlic olive oil.
We had take out for lunch from our local diner, and got some for the two workers, too. Plumber showed up while we were eating, so oh well. He said 9 a.m. and it was 1:00, so too bad for him.
We usually make our own pizza on Fridays, but no oven, and I don't want to cook outside. So, takeout pizza tonight. Our local place makes them heart shaped today.
Just months ago I ate an Arby's for the first time in years, decades even. I didn't like their frys. Their Gyro wasn't too bad. I stopped and had that a few times until a Lebanese family opened a restaurant a mile away. They have a real Gryo on their menu, excellent.
I think I'll fry up some catfish for dinner, thats the plan... subject to change.
We have a restaurant in town run by a Greek family. From time to time we order a package of crispy gyro meat, tzatziki sauce, and Greek salad (tomato, cucumber, feta cheese, black olive, Greek seasonings, olive oil, and a touch of balsamic vinegar). Good stuff!
I wish the Lebanese restaurant I mentioned served more Lebanese dishes. They used to be located right next to the Big College and downtown so their food, while cooked to order, was more like fast food, burgers, sandwiches etc. Now that they have moved across the river they are still doing, I'd call it really quick food. There isn't a Lebanese, Greek or middle eastern restaurant in town. I think they'd do well with more traditional dishes at least for dinner. They could still have their regular lunch menu which has a line out the door most days.
Slow roasted pork loin.
Baked potatoes
Green beans with slivered almonds and garlic with lemon butter.
Have enough food for several more days.
Also have chicken drumstick, root vegetable medley leftovers in refrig.
I'm making a casserole from a lady in Ark. I follow her on youtube. I'm using ground sausage in mine. It uses cabbage, potatoes and ground meat. I plan on adding frozen peas too.
Sherried Beef (sliced beef roast cooked with beef base, heavy cream, garlic, onions, mushrooms, sherry, and fresh ground pepper) on top of buttery mashed cauliflower.
