As things often happen, forces one to re-list and re-evaluate.... No doubt these items will get shifted around as they have over the past couple of years, but I have been chipping away at them.
We actually did the pool area a year early, so that shifted some things around. (I got a $600 pool, with a $300 pump, for a total of $250, so couldn't pass that up)....also got a $400 gazebo for $200, so, we bit the bullet on these two. The kids aren't complaining, as they've been living in the pool since, so far.
This month:
- Finish up the pool and gazebo area (deck will come later, cheaper to just get a better ladder for now)
- Clear out the ManCave to be area
- Fix the roof in the ManCave to be area
- Fix Tractor
Within the next couple of months:
- Look for any fruit tree deals
- Entryway Koi pond and herb garden (had to compromise with the wife and have some non-herbal pretty flowers there too, though many herbs do flower). Two big expenses here, the stones to go around it, and the pump kit. We have the rest.
- Prep the ManCave walls, and paint it, put in flooring
- Convert the Tack Shop fully into a Scrapbooking Crop Room business (and re-brand signs, etc., it's about halfway there, but will need to be repainted, etc.)
Before end of year:
- Rain barrel in stable for backup water, another in garden
- Potable water barrel in garage
- Deck for pool
- ManCave fleshed out and usable (pool table re-felted, lighting all up, TV and karaoke setup, games setup)
- Start home canning (even if bought veggies)
- Clean out Garage
- Organize tools and workbench
- Yard Sale!!!
- A good, hunting rifle with scope (need more than some handguns and a shotgun)
Next year:
- Security Cameras (8) (mostly to make it easier to keep track of the horses, but security as well)
- Solar powered well and septic pump (this is just really important)
- Emergency hand pump for well
- Solar power tool charging station in garage
- Auxiliary food pantry in garage
- Up on base and portable HAM radios
- 3M film for windows
- Concrete planters/pillboxes
- Convert an unused stall into an auxiliary chicken coop (if disease hits post SHTF, better to have two groups of chickens). Until then, will be a place I can put my Cockatoo when she's being too noisy for guests, etc.
- Convert an unused stall into an art studio. Post SHTF, this will be converted to a medical room.
- Flesh out tack room to also have vet med capability, post SHTF, most would be moved to medical room.
After that:
- Incorporate more solar once it's more viable here
- Backup generator and propane tank
- Raised gas storage barrels with dispensers, gas treatment
- Automotive lift in garage
