I was talking with someone recently who said he's discouraged at how this world has gotten so bad, and I agreed with him. Then I happened upon one more discouraging story online, and I got discouraged that God doesn't do anything about it. I thought that I have very little power to change anything, but I can do small things. I thought to myself that if it caught on and a lot of us set our minds to making one small thing to contribute to good then maybe we have at least a shot at making things better.

Let's keep June & Ward Cleaver alive.

Great topic Shan.
I took some jars back to a friend so she wouldn’t have to stress about running short.
Pulled tons of weeds in the garden- we share our abundance 😊
That’s all I’ve got today.
I can pick on @Pearl - that makes everybody feel better 😍😂💅

I took a load of firewood by to some local sweat lodge people. They sweat and pray for their people and the world. Not my culture but everything helps. My wife went with a cooler full of water and healthy food for the feast afterwards.
Just had to stop at some yard sales as well and got some great outdoor toys (for pennies) for our house share family.

I guess the nest these little ones were in got too hot under the tin , so they all left the nest a tad early onto the coop floor.
I knew they have a better chance up higher so I put them in a nesting box high up on the coop wall.
Then I fed them a small grasshopper each and gave them a dip in the pool to cool them off. It's hot in the coop..everyone is panting..

I went to my regular Saturday night Alcoholics Anonymous meeting and tried to carry the message of sobriety and the power of God.
I don't know if I helped anyone else, but I stayed sober one more day.

If I recall, you’ve been for quite some time. I just want to be one more person who cheers you on no matter how long it’s been. I’ve seen what it does to families (my own) and know only from watching how difficult it can be to kick. Blessings!

At work I've been smiling more and cracking jokes with kids and teenagers. It's nice when you know you've brightened someone's day just by being kind and helpful. Sometimes people are having a rough time and can't pay for certain things and I can let it slide. Sometimes they need answers or don't understand aspects of technology and can't get what they need without it. I help with that too. It feels better to have helped than sending them away without resolution.
Waving others to go first or go ahead, pedestrians and other traffic, did that today too.

Yesterday, the family went to the Genesee Country Village & Museum for a Celtic faire and while walking around I saw an older lady drop some cash. I picked it up and caught up to her and returned it to her. She was very grateful.

I made my grandkids laugh a lot which is heartwarming to me. Today, if the weather isn't oppressive, I will be attacking the side yard which has been overrun with vines. Not sure how that helps the world, but it will make the yard more attractive. :)

sold a bunch of meat yesterday without making much if any profit but the meat comes from our animals that are not factory farm animals and have good lives here until they go into the freezer, but everything dies, so that's ok

I feed and water the birds including the pigeons. The pigeons are multiplying at an alarming rate :rolleyes:

We fed the neighbor boy, Levi, lunch and dinner, and included him in our family conversation.
I think that it's things like that, that could help to make the world better. Maybe the love that you show the neighbor boy will stick with him and he'll pass that onto someone else, who passes it on to someone else and so on. I watched a documentary on a young boy whose neighbor took an interest in him and nurtured him, even though his mother was a thief. His mother was eventually charged along with his younger brother, but because of that neighbor, the one boy stayed on the straight and narrow.

If WE don't act what hope is left? Politicians sure aren't making things better.

I think we're the answer. How many times have we voted for someone and thought "NOW things will change" but they never do? I think the buck stops here and it's time for us to step up to the plate and spread kindness, goodness, honesty, and whatever other good that we can.

What if this caught on? What if each of us asked those within our sphere of influence to take the challenge and do something every day to make this world better? We may be able to effect change. Sure back in the Ozzie and Harriet and Leave it to Beaver age it was easy because those wholesome shows were impacting us and others and helped shape beliefs. But that old saying "Be the change you wish to see in the world" may be accurate. It's up to us.

I took in an immigrant and provided her housing and clean water in exchange for cooking my dinner. I should probably receive some kind of award for this, but alas I doubt I will ever be recognized for my good deeds.

A more serious response is this: The allegedly horrible world of today is really just the extreme magnification of bad news and the selective censorship of good news by social media and legacy media. When I look around I do see some bad stuff but its a small, perhaps tiny percentage of what the mind control engineers in the media would have you believe. Not buying into the lies and just living a good life is a great way to make the world a better place.

What do you think the purpose is behind the media magnifying the bad news?

Went to the lake, packed a good lunch, we found a place where we could sit and watch the kids swim easily, had shade, and that husband could access with the walker without a good deal of walking. We took Levi with us, he had a good time. His mom said thanks. I think he drives her nuts.

Today, I took food out of my pantry to give to a family that is struggling with food issues in their home.
Also took a few toys that were going to donated anyway to them also.
Visited with the lady of the house for a bit.
Was crocheting on a blanket, showed one of the older children how to crochet simple chain stitch.
Will be working with her so there will be enough blankets to go around this winter for them.
Talked to a group of knitters and crocheters I know .
So we can get blankets, hats and gloves together for them this winter.
Just little things to help out.
Kindness goes a long ways when someone is desperate situation.
