WOW...Nice rides, I love cars, especially the older muscle cars and old trucks.
If you are handy with a wrench, a mid 80's mini truck with a 4 cylinder and stick shift is the way to go.I drive a 2008 Toyota Tundra, double cab, long bed. Daily driver is a 2005 Camry. Wife drives a 2018 Camry.
I'd like to find a mid 80s Toyota pick up,no electrics, and carburated, extra cab, long bed, 4x4. I'd rebuild everything from the ground up. Solid truck and super reliable
Nice cars, but they'd never work around here.
I drove a '96 F350 with that power stroke back 30 years ago or so! One bad truck! I cut concrete in it and it went anywhere with the 4 wheel drive. Tried to buy it when I left but they wouldn't!I drive nothing worth mentioning, but there’s a long list of vehicles I wish I kept.
One I still have is a ‘96 F350 with 7.3l Power Stroke diesel. It’ll be on the road again.
I’m all for anything with a point ignition system and a carburetor. If you are handy with a wrench, a mid 80's mini truck with a 4 cylinder and stick shift is the way to go.
I had an '82 S-10 for 25 years and 378,000 miles. Rebuilt just about everything on it except for transmission and rear differential.
I'm toying with the idea of a square body Ford Ranger from that era with the indestructible 2.3 liter OHC 4 cylinder. Carb and distributor, no electronics. I've still got all the old tools needed - timing light, vacuum gage to tune the carb, even piston ring compressor, torque wrench, all the good stuff to rebuild engines. Heck I've even got a couple bottles of assembly lube for rod and main bearings that I use to lube my guns.
My '98 K3500 , the black one has a mechanical injection 6.5 and a manual trans, The Pete is a mechanical Cat.I’m all for anything with a point ignition system and a carburetor.
Back in the day I timed the distributor by ear and by experiencing how far the timing could be advanced without detonation and/or hesitation when starting at operating temperatures. The timing light was for reference purposes.
One thing being in Texas, mine has no body rust! And what Pearls truck would look like if it lived here about the same mileage, three times what is on the
blue '05. I think this one is an 02 View attachment 154422
