What do you drive?

I'm going to throw this in here because it is car related. I took my Highlander to the dealership to have a recall fixed. No problem & 4 hours later it was ready. Understand here that I'm a big guy. So I got my key & got in & WTH? The seat was all the way back as in I didn't know that it went that far back. It was also lowered all the way. I felt like a midget in a big truck. How big was the person that did that, over 7 ft tall & 500 lbs? Does big foot work at the Toyota dealership? I was blown away. Also it took me 20 minutes of fiddling with the seat to get it back to the way I drive. I adjusted it 3 years ago when we got it & hadn't touched the controls since then & I forgot how they worked. Duh!
Sounds like my wife and I. She runs the seat as close to the wheel as it'll go and raise it up. And still she can't see the hood. I can't even sit on the dge of the seat there, let alone get in. I have to run it all the way down and back and still have crank my head around to get in. Not sure she could get the seat in my truck up far enough to drive it

I have a 2013 Subaru Crosstrek. Hubby drives a blue 2018 Subaru Impreza.

wow, that is interesting, I always used to wait 'til they were 10 years old because the price seemed to drop dramatically, they already had a scuff of 2. And the fact that replacing either of my duallies would cost more than I paid for fairly large chunks of land, not so long ago.

I learned to drive in an old pickup, had cars a short time but only liked one of them. In 80 i got a 69 f-100, then a 78 ford. Bought a new silverado in 94, sold it last year and bought and '02 silverado.

Must be more of us than i thought. Last year i saw old trucks bringing big money. Trucks with 200k miles selling for $10-12k.

I sold my 1966 Ford twin frame, I now have a 2005 Nissan with 350,000
Miles, got my money out of it, it is a back up truck now.
A have 2022 Toyota Tacoma, 50,000 miles, I think??
And a Kubota tractor 2021 with less than 1000 miles on it.

My wife has a Honda Accord 1997, I replaced many sensor on it & the cooling fan runs all the time. We unplug it when not driving it, still haven't found the problem, going to replace the relay this week.
But the rodeo & sit or Gas hand are never where I left them in my Black
Tacoma truck. She love it, AC is great & it have power everything with Bluetooth.

Guy on the radio today said that 11 out of the top 12 vehicle sold in the US today that have proven records of exceeding 200,000 miles without a major repair were made by either Honda or Toyota. Only the standard non-eco boost non-BS non-EV Ford F150 made the list.

I don't know if all toyota dealers do it, but around here the dealer does oil changes for the same price as it would cost you to buy the oil. so perhaps that is part of their longevity along with a higher standard of quality.

2015 Fiat 500 Lounge
When I bought it April 2017 it had 31 miles on it.
Mileage now is 17881.
$25 fills it up and I can get 436 miles to tank.
Insurance company told me if I could keep mileage lower than 12000 miles yearly.
My insurance would drop by half.
And it did.
But I have had a Porsche,Corvette, Ranger, Austin Healey,
Might have small foot size 4-4.5 but that baby can become lead if need be.

Never-mind...!!!

We drive a 1997 F250, a 2007 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, and a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Summit. All were bought new and all are considered low mileage, and of course all are 4 wheel drive. In 2026 we're going to replace the 2 Jeeps. I'll probably keep my truck, unless I find a need for an F350.
It seems like all new cars and trucks now days are more focused on electronic gizmos instead of important things like; performance, towing capacity, ground clearance, HP and torque. I'm not interested in buying a toy or driving a computer, nor do I care about fuel economy.

I missed this thread, I was in Alaska when it was first posted.

Nothing screams "homesteading vehicle" like a sports car. They do great going down gravel roads, stump jumping in the woods, or traveling over hill and dale.

This is my favorite drive....but only during warm months. Anyone else have a Ma Deuce on their vehicle?

Just for ref, exactly like the (2) I have in carport and backyard...!!!

We too have several Toyota's. Actually down to two now as I sold our Camry yesterday. Still have an Avalon & a new RAV-4.
I didn't look at Mazda's for the last few decades as we were pretty stuck on Honda & Toyota. Looked at them earlier this year and really like them. Bought a couple CX-5's.

Right now, still driving my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Love that jeep!
Hopefully, next week I will be driving a 2023 Plymouth Voyager. The dealership bought it for me and will go through it when it gets here.
We are keeping my jeep and selling DH's Jeep Grand Cherokee (2001 with more miles than my 98)

Wouldn't that be a Chrysler Voyager? I thought Plymouth went out of business years ago.

Personally, I'm reluctant to buy a Chrysler. They're only making 1 vehicle for 2025 (Pacifica/Voyager). If there's only 1 model left in the lineup, not sure how long the brand will be around which may affect dealer support and service.

2006 Tundra. Almost 200K on it and running like new. I mean like the day it rolled off the lot. It has the "legendary" 4.0L V6. Which to me lives up to the reputation in spades. I don't tow or haul anything heavy so I didn't need a V8. I wanted a light engine since I go offroad in it occasionally and I didn't want to sink a heavy front end in the mud.
My wife drives a 2016 4Runner Off Road Premium. I've got dibs on it when she gets a new 4Runner :) The Tundra will be reserved for farm use after that.

I'm reluctant to buy a Chrysler, or anything in the Chrysler family - Dodge, Chrysler, Ram, or Jeep. I, and all my family, have owned them before. None of us have owned one for at least ten years. There's a reason for that - they don't last. I don't have time for shop queens...

Mazda is solid. The ones built in Japan have a fit and finish that would make Lexus proud. I have heard that the newer ones built in Mexico and in the joint Toyota/Mazda plant in Texas, are not quite as good. I haven't driven one of those so I can't make a comment. The one thing I can say, is that everybody who has a Mazda seems to love it. I'd still have mine, but it was too low and uncomfortable to drive for 12 hour trips like I have to take for work.

We've owned Jeeps for close to 20 years now. Never had a serious problem with any of them. My Rubicon is an 07 model and have had zero problems with it. Same with my wife's Grand Cherokee, except for mice damage. My parents had a Jeep Liberty, again zero problems. I guess with any product, there could be problem ones made.

Me, Tundra.
Wife, 4Runner.
Son, Camry.
Daughter, Highlander.
Son in Law, Corolla.
