A snake committed suicide when he put his head underneath my shovel.

I hate when I'm pulling weeds and almost pick up one. I squealed like a girl.
Speaking of snakes, this morning I had to get some gasoline and propane. On my way home a hawk carrying a snake flew right in front of me. I missed hitting it by what looked like just a few inches.

I started making some dehydrated tomatoes yesterday. I love eating them.

I finally bought a battery pole saw. It is 40v as some are 20v.

It has a 8.5 in blade. It's not the best in the world, but I'm going to ride it hard and if its going to break, hopefully it will while under warranty.

How long does it take before a chain needs sharpening? Its just kind of gnawing at the limbs.
Whenever it gets dull it'll start cutting more slowly. It depends on the type of wood that your sawing, or how often you hit the ground, dirt, etc on how often it needs sharpening. When I was logging I'd sharpen my chain several times a day, more often if I was sawing frozen wood or dirty logs. With your little limbing saw it should go quite a while before it needs to be sharpened. Just keep the chain and bar out of the dirt.

Last week while I was on vacation I had about 200 yards of good top soil delivered to spread out behind the house. Got it all spread out today and it looks like I could use another 100 yards to finish. I've got enough soil stock piled out by the barn to do the front yard too but that'll have to wait until spring time now.
I'm getting the soil from down by the pond. Now that the water level in the pond is low I might have it enlarged too.

Good job.

Going to be 96° 3 days next week. Every day in the 90s. Too bad I have to take mom to the doctor 2 days.

I am picking up my new garden fencing on Monday. We are officially in a drought so there is no way i can get poles into the ground without rain.

It got up to 36 here today Robin. Now it's snowing and the wind is picking up. We're supposed to have snow for the next 3 or 4 days and temps down to the mid 20's.
Tomorrow I'll go out and pick the rest of the apples.
Our ground is hard as a rock right now too, so I'm using a pick to dig the holes for the wood shed and the cabin extension. Usually if I can pick down a foot or so I can dig the rest of the hole with the auger on the tractor.

I have to say that I could never live there. Our short Winter drives me crazy.

I will be the family for a white Christmas though.
I got caught off guard with this early snow. I need to get the wood shed built as soon as I can and get the firewood under cover. Plus I'm building a small structure to house the generator at the pump house. At least I got the outside hay covered.
I think we'll have a 99.9% chance of a white Christmas here.

Started the container clean up today. I store the pots on the backside of the wrap around porch. Before could get them all on porch, the chickens we taking dirt baths. They have been known to lay an egg or two in the pots too. Input the saucers on top of the dirt this year. Maybe it will help keep them out.

Well I am finally getting back into things once again now that I have extra time on my hands. Yesterday I tilled up 8 rows to be planted with fall crops, even though I am a little late this year. I planted Arugula, cabbage, carrots, mustard greens, collard greens, radishes, and beets. Then we made a run to town for feed so I picked up some 6 packs of Chinese cabbage, red cabbage, broccoli and Brussel sprouts. Tilled up another bed this morning to get those in the ground. Then cut up 3 jalapeno plants and 2 tobasco to over winter. Rains are coming tomorrow with a cold front.
