What I'm Quilting Now

I just finished quilt #3 - my husband wanted me to make him one, and the pattern he asked for was a Texas Lone Star (yes, my husband is a Texan!) I had a local shop do the longarm quilting (pattern Stars and waves). The backing is a print called Texas stars

Grand daughter brought her sewing machine to Granny yesterday.
And even though I was too tired, I read the directions.
Estelle used her sewing machine for the first time today.
Her seams were wonky.
But I will still place that block in picture frame to show her journey as she learns to sew and quilt.

No wonder she loves you. I'm sure you have a go round with her, but that's why she loves you, respects you, and you show her you care by the way you're teaching and training her.

Honestly, I don't remember either of my grandmothers sewing but they must have had to mend something here and there at one time, sewn on buttons, something!
I haven't gotten any quilt sewing started or done in quite some time.

I have a couple of old, well worn quilts my grandma gave me when I was a little kid. I treasure them.

I wish I had some tips to offer - other than making a dot where the 1/4" seams connect and not sewing beyond the dot.... I am still a beginner at quilting, so I haven't learned any tips for that other than to try to avoid Y seams whenever I can. In this quilt, I sewed the diamonds into strips then put the strips together to avoid Y seams.

For a beginner, you are pretty talented. Y seams are the worst

She is getting stronger and feeling better every week.

Still no symptoms of covid.

If she's sewing she's feeling better.
She is working on another one right now.

I finished two more quilts - This one is for my brother for Christmas. The pattern is Missouri Star Quilt Co's "Binding Tool Star". I finally got it in the mail today! (The picture was taken before I put the binding on.)

The second one was for my son and DIL, also for Christmas! The pattern is Donna Jordan's "Mirror Mirror". Have I mentioned how much I LOVE being retired?!?!?!?

A friend of mine brought me a sack full of pieces of a quilt she started with her grandmother- 25 years ago! I put it together for her and was able to give it back to her for her birthday the following week! It was my first time doing my own machine quilting, too. (And, yes, all of my quilts get "cat-scanned" by my quilting kitties!)

I also finished a new bedroom set- quilt, pillow shams, and throw pillow. Top stitching was done on a longarm at my local quilt shop.

Wife finally feeling better, got that Little Boy great grand quilt top all embroidered, ready to pin filler and backing.
Then quilt it.
Glad she's back.
