What I'm Quilting Now

I just started another quilt myself. Asked Hunny last night what color he thought my border should be? He tells me Navy Blue. The quilt is a "Bee Theme" with colors being black, yellows/gold and greens. Never ask my Hunny about colors.

Most men, but not all will almost always say Navy Blue.
To them that is a safe color.
Make a miniature block and do one border in Navy Blue so that he feels like he contributed to the quilt.
This is what I do on occasion then I take all those miniature blocks and make into doll or baby quilts for grand children.
Yes, it is a pain in the but, but this way he has contributed too.

Finally finished the quilting on my forever quilt and it’s trimmed and the binding will hopefully be put on tomorrow. Now onto my next UFO. . And you thought I was gonna run out-haha. Piecing this by hand- those are 1” diamonds and 4” hexies. Then will quilt it by hand also but have another quilt on the frame so will get rolling on that. It should go a little quicker- all straight lines.

Hand embroidery quilt blocks animals of the world, finishing two of those up.
Then will be hand embroidery transportation blocks.
After that a sampler hand embroidered sampler quilt for myself.
Working on Christmas 2024.

My wife is almost done making her maple leaf blocks. She's having a heck of time arranging them, on the living room floor, so the colors are evenly distributed throughout the quilt. I can't remember, but I think she told me that each 8" block was made of 17 pieces.

I'd say 17 was correct. That takes a lot of peicing and she did a really good job so be proud. That is a nice layout she chose.

All the blocks and a 3.5" border are sewn together. Approximate dimensions are 94" x 104". Next is to buy the backing material and then bringing it all to the longarm quilter lady (the quilter lady has the batting).

She is considering a variegated colored thread for the quilting. Not sure when she'll have a backing material picked. She is looking at the few shops we have within 50 miles, as well as, online dealers.

I had started this quilt years ago. The star blocks and about 90% of the small nine patch blocks are hand pieced (I should have my head examined). I’m finishing it up on the machine. Right now I just need to sew the top right section on, a thin black border and the final border of 2” color blocks alternating with black.

It’s got plenty of mistakes and a lot of the points don’t match up very well but I’m never going to enter it in the stat fair.

I'm working on a new Baby Girl Quilt. My MDAnderson Oncologist is having his first baby and I have three more quilt blocks to do before I start my actual "quilting". Once it is all pieced together, I will share a picture.

Saw this on another site, small hand stitched pieces using upcycled fabric hat will be put together for a quilt.

Many of you know we are in the process of moving. I get my shelves back in my sewing room for my fabric which is so much better on so many levels than totes. I think this was about the 7 or 8 totes mark. I got 10 totes emptied and still have 2 shelves left (I think). Needed the totes to get more stuff moved

Just finished this baby quilt. Its for a friend of one of my dd's. Her shower is Saturday and true to my normal I waited till the week its due to find the backing and quilt it lol. Now to get busy on my new expected grandson's quilt. I need to find the fabric I want to use for it first though. All the fabric I have and nothing is what I want for this one....oh and NOT showing the stash lol!
