Assume that if you do not have exclusive access to the water, you think you will haul to your home, that gangs will control that water source, and demand painful compensation.

For any of you who are unsure about whether this really would happen.........it really does happen.

In Africa, and in normal times, this guy usually makes a pretty good living and does much better than average townsfolk and farmers.

His donkeys will usually be the best fed and in the best condition.

When a war comes along, the absolute first thing the rebels do, is take control of the water.

Control of the water gives them 100% control of the community.

You should rework those test questions a little, to not be so lethal. That's one killer test you've got there. Literally.

I'm seeing 4 animals there, there's a brown and white critter with it's head hanging upside down at the very, far back of the bike, directly behind the black and white calf. Sort of looks like the muzzle of another calf. Poor things if they're alive but they don't look alive to me.

correct....one sheep, two goats and a calf.

They are all very much alive. If they were slaughtered before transport, the meat would spoil during the journey........and consumers want to see the animal alive and well before purchase to know how fresh the meat is and that the animal didn't die of sickness.

They are headed for a wet market where they will be sold......and then killed with a single blow of a knife to their throat ("wet markets" are in practice very wet with blood)......in a Halal compliant way.

It is a muslim thing.

Halal method:

The requirements are:

• The sheep must be facing Mecca.
• The slaughterman must be a Muslim.
• The slaughterman must bless the sheep.
• The heart of the sheep must be beating.
• The throat is cut with a very sharp knife.

Very few people have a source of potable water that does not require treatment on their property. Most of the people who don't have their own water source will probably die very quickly. But not all of them. Some will manage to locate the ones that do have water, and will eventually drive them off or kill them to get it. Even if the water people managed to totally evade detection and remain safe hiding, eventually they would end up like that lone guy in futuristic horror movies who is walking around a deserted landscape without another living human for 1000 miles.

I agree with tipping the odds in your favor by whatever means you can afford. But in the end, in a true society-ending apocalypse, which people here seem to be talking about - I don't think much of anything is going to make a hill of beans of difference. Where preps will make the difference is if things return to pseudo-normal. You have to live long enough to see that happen.

These are just my opinions. Granted, they are not the opinions of a super prepper planning for immortality. I have no qualms with people attempting to do this, I just personally don't see a point to it. I prep for the return of society. Not for an eternity without it.

I don't see the point in prepping, only to live in a world where you become the guy on the motorcycle above.

The stages of argument/denial by folks with normalcy bias appear to be:

1. Bad crises cant happen
2. Bad crises wont happen
3. A bad crisis isnt happening
4. OK it is happening but no one can get prepared enough to survive this
5. .................

It is always the case those with redundant water sources respond with their many different reliable options for water.

Sadly, those who know their fate are quiet.

It is hard to "totally" list what makes someone a REAL PREPPER. But water, and a safe location, safe from humans, is a good start.

A couple of days ago you posted that you dont think I could survive a severe crisis.

........well I have already survived working in the absolute worst and most dangerous places in the world........for nearly four decades.....and I still do that now.

The main reason that I still get asked/paid to do that is.......that I am very good at it.

......so you will have to excuse me if, when a very severe crisis comes along at home, I give it try.

It is all about mindset.

.......or is it, no one should prepare.

They would rather we all not prepare.......just for their own peace of mind.

What does peace of mind mean?

Peace of mind means just what it sounds like: a state in which your brain is calm, at ease, and untroubled by worry. This common phrase describes a feeling of tranquility or state of carefree contentment that can be hard to achieve.

If they can convince us not to prep......then they can stop worrying about whether prepping is needed.

Some people think word "afford" is always about money. It is not. It can be about money, but it also describes other things. Like "time". Like "ability". I used the word to cover all those different contexts, to communicate "if it's within your capabilities". Look up usage of the word in a dictionary if you must. You assumed I used it on one simple context. That was an incorrect assumption.

Previously you said (paraphrased here) "A real prepper is someone who moves their family out into the middle of nowhere where they have multiple sources of water on their property". While everyone would probably agree that this would be a nice thing to have, implying that people are substandard preppers because they don't is not exactly an intelligent thing to say IMHO. But instead of pointing out the absurdity of your statement, I mentioned my thoughts on water in the apocalypse as a counter point. But to you, this was "badmouthing prepping". What an ignorant thing to say.

I have done a lot of prepping. Some of it may be different than the type of prepping that you have done. Some of it may be the same as prepping that you have done. We obviously prep for different lengths of survival. You need to learn to deal with the fact that some people have different ideas on how to do things than you do. Stop claiming that they are "badmouthing prepping", "wannabe preppers" and all the other insulting things you spout as you try to present yourself as superior.

You present your ideas. Others present their ideas. That's called a discussion. It's obvious that you think your ideas are superior. But not everybody agrees. Some of your ideas/comments are very good and show great insight. However, others seem to have come blasting in from a previous orbit around Pluto. When others cordially present a different idea/opinion/prediction/comment you don't need to immediately attack. Show a little humility.
