Met them at an Olympics watching party, all adult singles, many of the ladies seemed a little aggressive.... But there was one who didn't want anything to do with me, I thought that was a sign of good taste... Six week later and we were hitched... Kind of like Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, except there were no brothers and I couldn't dance :)

That brings back some memories! I haven't been in a campaign since college. DMs are always mean, especially if you have one too many beers while playing and call them bad names...😉
Last week hubs and one of our friends were playing Diablo and something really dastardly happened to them. I happened to hear it and I said "Oh I wish I had thought of that when I was a DM" . Hubs shook his finger at me and said "No! Not that! Bad DM".............. I loved it.

I only play WoW. I played Ultima, thr first Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, and created computerized modules for the guys on Neverwinter's Night. Hubs and our D&D friends play every MMORPG game they can find on Friday nights.

I don't recall the name of the ones we played. I do recall that my first character was a Viking priest and my favorite was a Ranger/bounty hunter. That was almost 30 years ago though. My daughter has a circle of friends that had a campaign going last winter. She was some kind of elf thing with a squirrel that followed her around. Once school got out last spring it kind of went by the wayside though...

And if you’re a widow or widower, chime in. 😍
So the way back machine says…I met my late husband when I was 15. He became a good friend. Back then it was okay to hang around with older (or younger) people. He was 6 yrs older. We did lots of fun cool stuff.
Eventually I ditched my boyfriend.
Well, I knew who he was for years before that because our older brothers were best friends who frequently got in trouble together as well as did a lot of stuff that was troublesome and didn't get caught.
Was it love at first sight? Yeah, but we both let it simmer for 3 years. LOL. Just friends. He was my boyfriend's best friend. Remember, all is fair in love and war. You didn't know my boyfriend, he was not liked by my family but they didn't tell me until after I broke up with him.
@Jen @Magpie whoever else was posting about games...after we got married we started having guys he worked with come over and we'd play a board game that had an electronic (battery-operated) column thing, I think I've mentioned it before, called Dark Tower. I don't know how exciting that'd be in this techy world, but for 1982 it was pretty cool.

This is my thread, and I don't care if it drifts A LITTLE.

We had Dark Tower and played it. One of the earliest of that sort of gaming. I liked it.

I've been gaming since the days of war games where the battles of WW2 were done on a board with hexes on them and little square pieces of cardboard. I did Russian Campaign and did Battle of the Bulge but I don't think I ever finished it.

Sorry about the thread drift.

I played Jutland which took up a good section of carpet and took days to play.

I started D&D with the original box with a manual and dice. When the hardcover manual came out...

I was all over them.

The Princess and I both had our own players manuals.

I've got all the books .... original AD&D and the upgrades. Hubs and I each had our sets too.

It was fun to have our best friends over on a Friday night to sit around the table and play. Our characters did hilarious things that we still talk about now. It was great fun and face to face unlike today's online games.

Online. We sat up nights and chatted online for hours (me drinking cheap box wine), emailed during the day at work, and calls when we could. He lived over an hour from me and we were both single parents. We finally met, with our kids, at IHOP and then to an amusement park/game place, and then McDonalds (where he kissed me for the first time). The rest is history. LOL. Fun Times.

Short version???

Blind date thru a friend, things worked out so well 2 weeks later I asked him to marry me and we did marry a month later, and lasted 29 years
