We did a pit BBQ out in the Mojave Desert one trip, and it was SO GOOD... ours was in the ground, of course, but still, that's a good way to cook, as long as it's set up right. That was a 4-day shooting and rec trip to Cuddeback Dry Lake and environs... not far from the small town of Red Mountain. One day four of us were rolling across the dry lake in a beat-up old wannabe Baja Bug, doing double nickel (55 m.p.h.) which was about the top speed of that bug in dirt, and we got PASSED by a large landsailer with two persons aboard (skipper & crew, lol), all suited up & wearing helmets to boot. It was MAJESTIC---there's no other word for it---seeing that landsailer slide by under a nice tall rig. Must have been doing 65 or 70 m.p.h., no lie, we couldn't keep up in the Bug, lol. Ah, just another memory from that trip, it was literally a blast! I may very well be the sole survivor of the four guys who were in the Bug that day... two have passed away, and I didn't know the fourth guy very well. This all happened about 40 years ago...

P.S. If I knew more people out here in the boondocks, I'd dig a pit for big ol' pit BBQs... but I have my 5-burner BBQ in the yard, and I can fit a beef brisket in that thing. 😒

I have
I would love to go, but this is how far it is for me: 17 hr 36 min (1,192.3 mi) via I-20 W.

If we knocked off at least 10 hours, or at least 600 miles, it would more feasible. Hope you have a great turn out!I
driven it a few times. One night I was in the Texas panhandle around 12 am I was going to pull an all
Nighter to get home. The radio reception eas zero out in the middle of nowhere, so I was driving and turning the dial trying to find anything. Around 2 am I gave up and just rolled h window down and drove
All of a sudden the radio caught a radio station and the volume was all the say up
Lol I damn near hit the ditch.

Frodo. When you mentioned it the other night, I told Hubby. He said book it, let’s go. I kid you not. Within 3 days we found out Uncle from Utah will be here and grand niece is having a birthday we are supposed to be at in Portland Oregon 🤨. What’s up with that!

I understand, The group that is going to be there is a forum like this one except it is people who live in that state . That allows us to be friends online as well as in person.
We meet up every year to kill evil paper plates and fellowship
