Not for us- our soldiers normally just undertake peacekeeping duties for the UN.
It'll be interesting to see what happens...I think it is early to be alarmed and exercises/training/deployments happen for all sorts of reasons. Have your country's leadership said a word as to the change in posture?

"Preparing for the next war" is what I did in the military for decades, operationally to a degree, but mainly as a strategic planner to develop/refine plans to be pulled off the shelf and adapted, if ever needed.

UN peacekeeping duties are an operational or even tactical level affair. I would be surprised if your government has no interest (and hasn't had an interest) in strategic efforts/planning.

Perhaps I have already mentioned this and perhaps not . Sportsman's guide has an online store which includes military surplus gear . Though I don't recall the exact dollar will say the very heavy duty military grade chemical suits , I bought for around $ 12.00 each and the respirator masks for less than $ 10.00 each . -- I suspect that beats " Canadian Prepper " prices . -- I know many just proclaim we will never be nuked and hopefully they are correct . My mindset and personality though is that of a prepper . I had rather have it and not need it than to need it and not have it .

Most of the heavy duty suits are just that...heavy. I stock respirators that I use now for welding and cleaning out mouse infested buildings and mold encrusted motorhomes. I also have tyvek suits and a roll of duct tape in a tub with the footy covers.

As far as nuke protection I have the respirators for short trips out or defensive use if we have to leave our protected area.

Yep. Many people don't know that since OSHA requires those in the workplace, they don't want cost to be an excuse for people not having them, so...
They subsidize the cost of them. :D
The $29.99 cost of those excellent respirators wouldn't even cover the cost of the materials to make them.
Far better than a N95 face-diaper.
Here's your clues:
  • NIOSH P100 certified
  • Layer of activated carbon provides relief from the irritating effects of nuisance levels of ozone, organic vapors or acid gases*
  • Provides at least 99.97% filtration efficiency against solid and liquid aerosols, including oil based aerosols*

The hazardous placard on the door to that NIOSH lab reads...

4-4-4-radioactive

If an alarm is triggered while in that lab the instructions are...

RUN!

The losing crime syndicate always looks to war to sure up their power base. Unfortunately the majority of people always fall for it. Imagine what would happen is the any crime syndicate declared war and none of the common folks showed up to the war.

Sounds like the just and morally right thing to do...
People tried that during the draft and they got threatened with prison time.

The crime syndicate has power and resources even if it is losing, The common folk usually have pitchforks and torches (adjust for current technology and availability). Trying to get 10% of the people to revolt or refuse and agree on methods and time is a real problem.

Gengis Kahn's favorite wife was Jewish...

The trouble is most people like power especially when they are the one's in power.

As Lord Acton said, "Power corrupts, Absolute power corrupts absolutely."
