Protocols like that are about probabilities and how they influence survivability.

If you are too close to a nuclear detonation for duck and cover to change your survivability.....then that is your reality.

If you are far enough from a nuclear detonation that duck and cover is un-necessary, then so be it.

But if there are a million people in between those two zones and they are subjected to a nuclear blast and radiation burst, then getting out of the direct path of both those and getting some overhead protection from falling ceiling panels/masonry will increase their probability of survival. That might make the difference between life and death for a hundred thousand or more of those million.

There are many things in life you can do to reduce risk........some are prudent and some are arguably not worth the cost.

Trying to duck and cover after you see/detect the first flash, wont cost you much.

That makes it worth a try.

MIRVed nuclear weapons will land in a particular target zone in quick succession.....but not so quick that you can't or shouldn't try to hit the deck.

Getting out of line of sight of those and behind a wall or something can make a big difference to your gamma dose.

Yes, I have iodine pills and betadine that I can rub on. I also have Tums for a calcium supplement. I’m too old to really benefit from iodine but the neighbours have kids so I’ll take one at the start and then give the rest of my pills to them.

The idea was to protect us from flying glass. In second grade they had us push all the desks against the wall with the windows and then we would crawl under the desks. That provided a flat platform that would have protected us fairly well. I don’t think the teachers were all that happy about rearranging the classroom. In third grade we just crawled under our desks where they were regularly placed. That would not have provided much protection.

I will start this thread with a deluge of information as to the situation as of " today " . I realize many do not have intestinal fortitude to be able to face such matters. For those that have a hate avrd time facing such a serious topic , simply do not open up the link . From experience I already know many will simply deny that this information is our reality . The only port for US Navy ballistic missile submarines on the entire east coast of the US is Kings Bay, Georgia.
About 50 air miles from our farm.
The only other US post for them is Bremerton, Washington.

I would assume that these two places are very, very high on Russia's target list since just one of these subs can pretty much destroy their country.

At 50 miles distance from the target the blast winds would pretty much flatten Answered Prayers Farm and radiation would do the rest.
But I'm not going to spend tens of thousands of dollars I don't have to have a fallout shelter built underground. Even if i did we probably wouldn't even have time to get in it once the crap hit the fan.

Years ago I put my life into the hands of God. He has saved my life a number of times already, and if He decides that it's my time to die, let His will be done.

edited to add: we have YEARS of food put back, and yes I do have the weaponry and mindset to defend us.

I watched a video yesterday that showed that a major military target in Tampa, Florida was going to get wiped out by Hurricane Milton today.

n pYouTube is owned by Google, which is why I refuse to support it. I'm completely off of Google. I no longer have a Microsoft account and run Linux machines and use Linux-based productivity software except for one machine that has Windows...only because of legacy software I use.

Despise "the " and am off of it as much as possible. I don't have a smart phone, so neither Android nor iOS. Make it harder for big brudda to spy on you, folks, ditch those Google and MS accounts, and get rid of their surveillance platforms otherwise known as smart phones. My flip phone is made by an independent manufacturer and doesn't even text.

What kind of phone can people use then that doesn't track you? I have an iPhone but want to get rid of it but unsure what is better to use?

Betadine kills germs. How does it benefit the skin if exposed to radiation? I'm glad you're thinking of your neighbors - I'd love to see a return of neighbors looking out for one another. We can't control what others do but we can spread God's love!
