Can't hear the audio at work. How did he know the suspect's gun wasn't loaded?

I'm all for a little vigilante justice, but when it comes to life or death, the guy is going to get my money. I can make more. I can't raise the dead, or come back from death. (though if I can safely plug him at some point)....

Last night, first time I've had to go out on the property armed for the first time in ages. Wife heard noises outside. Turned out to be raccoons, but I prefer to go out with the odds on my side. (I stick to the shadows, and know my property, so any would be intruder will be seen by me, long before they see me). I used to always use the shotgun, with a semi-auto pistol as a backup, but lately, I just use the pistol (just easier and quicker).

Nothing vigilante about it! He let the perp leave and didn't shoot because he was afraid of hitting innocent bystanders.

I'm afraid his logic was faulty when it came to concluding the gun wasn't loaded. He said the perp cocked the hammer on an automatic weapon (instead of racking the slide) but the perp could have lowered the hammer on a loaded chamber.

Besides, one of the MAJOR rules of gun safety is: ALWAYS ASSUME IT'S LOADED!

Right? Sorry, but when I go out at night armed, to check a noise, I rack the slide so I have one in the chamber, and safety off. I don't have my finger on the trigger, but right near it. I would NEVER assume a gun isn't loaded. My life is too important to me to make that mistake.

I don't like the idea of a possible gun fight over money. ON the other hand, if I can get mine (edc) out with better than even odds, then this bad guy gets shot. I do like the fact the store owner did not shoot the fleeing suspect for several reasons. The bystanders being one and the other, it is not a Stand Your Ground situation, or protecting property, if suspect is fleeing. Legal issue.

Would be happy if this perp is captured or eliminated form the gene pool.

The guys face is on the news and they know the car. Probably will get him at some point. Guess he thought a furniture store would be less risky than a liquor store. SURPRISE!
