Welcome to the group.
You are right to be worried living that close to two targets of interest.
The CDC is probably not a very high priority target for terrorists but the nuke facility is a plausible target.
I would look more towards prepping for NBC situations.
N= Nuclear
B=Biological
C=Chemical
Also need to look in to radiation and how to secure family from it.
Sadly i dont think duct tape on the dooor frams will keep it out.
