Anybody else regret moving to the country?

Our place is 18 miles to a town of 500 in a county population of 2800. There's no traffic lights in this county. We do most of our shopping in the one store here in our town. It we want to go to a larger store for shopping it's a 50 mile trip. We never go to Walmart, but if we did it's 75 miles away and in another state. The feed store that we like going go to is 75 miles away and also in another state which doesn't have a sales tax. We usually save enough on the sales tax to pay for the fuel and lunch.
Our driveway is 2 miles long, nearest neighbor is 5 miles away and our property is completely inside the National Forest. That means that there isn't any other private property anywhere near us, and nobody will ever build around us. In a normal winter we usually get snowed in for several weeks every year. During spring our road washes out and parts turn to mud.
We love it here and have no intention of ever leaving.

We moved from SoCal to the "country" 15 years ago. Now the town, is a small city, and rapidly building around us. Our gorgeous desert views are being replaced with a sea of lights. :( :( We should have left 5-6 years ago, now I fear we are stuck.

I wish I could move to... 1880. But then I'd have died of appendicitis at 21.

My newest neighbor (just bought his land a week ago) is a CA escapee and was affected by that as well..

He left San Diego about 10 years ago over the CA crap. Moved to the AZ desert outside Maricopa to be by himself. However he was crowded out by a low rent development housing hispanics making noise at all hours. Drinking, music ATVs running around, trash and gun shots.
