Hi Dr. Henley, yes Switzerland is indeed a beautiful country, but like you said getting in is a problem, especially after their recent referendum stopping all immigration. Switzerland is NOT in the EU and is an "island" inside the continent. The citizens of the country are the "Army", as every citizen is armed with their own military "supplies" at home (including weapons of so called "mass destruction" (haha). However, because of their unique position on the continent, and although not a EU member, it relies heavily upon imported goods, i.e. food in winter. Those beautiful pictures of the mountains are pretty, but almost all of the land is owned by "someone" and people in general are found "hiking" in even the most remote spots. Switzerland, due to their armed citizens, has the lowest crime rate probably "in the world". If I had "enough money" (which I don't) and if I could speak a 4th language (which I will not learn) the perfect spot would be an island off the coast of Sweden. Yes there are literally thousands available and you are definitely alone, and also "on your own" for literally everything. Oh well I don't want to write a novel, just thought I would comment on Switzerland. Have a great day, and stay locked and loaded.I'm thinking Switzerland is the place to be in Europe in the SHTF. The only problem is getting in.
I wish you luck in your choice of places. Do you read any of the papers out of the UK? (Internet) Those people have some "serious" problems that even makes living here look good.My plan A is to get to the coast, get a boat and hop over the the UK. I'm in western germany
Hi Tyler, you have a good plan, I hope you are young enough to make it work. My "old bones" have made their last major move anywhere. I wish you success in what you attempt to do.My over all plan os to work my way back from here, to the UK, to iceland, to greenland, to canada
Well Tyler, since I do not know your age, whether you are married or not, your finances, or your location it is hard to give an opinion. However I can recommend Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (far east or the Müritz region) as being a part of Germany that is not totally overrun by people. Western M-V is very populated, not much different that anywhere in west Germany, however the eastern part, and the Müritz region (I know there are a lot of oturists there) is mostly made up of "Dorfs" that are very small. In most of the Dorfs the people all have their own gardens and many have limited livestock, so trying to get your stuff would not be a high priority (in my opinion). Farther east, closer to the Poland border, the dorfs are few and far apart, and mostly there is "nothing" - meaning few stores of any size, and fewer "services". I would call Neubrandenburg as the "border" (east and west) where the population changes drastically. In many areas, a house, or land property can still be bought for less than the price of a used car. Ths Island Rügen is pretty wild, and the farther north you go the fewer dorfs. There are a lot of places to be "lost in the woods" up there. Usedom on the other hand is wall to wall people and very costly to live there. You just need to look around - while you have time, if your choice is to stay and make the best out of it.It is an interesting plan that will hopefully take me out of danger while allowing me to restock along the way (hopefully) plan B is to sit tight and plan C is to move away from my current location but not sure on where yet
