Probably true. But since we don't want BOTH government and criminals harassing us, we should let the government get rid of the criminals first, then we can get rid of the government after that. Previously, the government was loathe to get rid of criminals. But under Trump they are making marked gains in that area. One of my fears now is, as a retired IT person, that all our social security numbers, all our bank accounts, all our personally identifiable information, IRS info, Medicare info, and Social Security have been collected by unvetted hacker types who are supposed to have AI rewrite the US treasury code. That is a recipe for disaster. I have too many friends that their only income is SS. If that gets broken, deliberately or just stopped, they will be in a lot of hurt.

There was a piece on our lunchtime news that in the US, Irish foreign born birth registrations are up 50%. Speaking to an adult American, she said she plans to get her Irish passport, 'just in case'. The same thing happened after Brexit. If they all come back, we'll sink .

If you are self sufficient, than that may work for you, but that is pretty rare. I strive for self sufficiency but still have to supplement with some foods I can’t produce, many local, but still most agriculture rely upon that workforce. And of course, scarcity of food will create chaos or starvation and/or high prices. I don’t want to see that.
