hahahaha!! We are poor enough to qualify for Medicaid, and we could get food stamps ( but of course don't , we would suck as farmers if we did)
So I hate us...hmmm....will have to tell husband "hey I hate you because you are poor"

You know WHY we are poor? Because I got sick and tired of working a stressful job only to see more income than we now make in 3 years going down the tubes in taxes to pay for the ghetto trash, third world countries that can't fix their own issues and just plain lazy people that don't want to work. It made me so mad that I decided I will not pay taxes anymore. The only way to do that is to have income below the limit of where you have to pay. If you can't beat them , join them. Only problem LOL we are really poor now....
I don;t care it was worth it, been doing what I want for almost 10 years now

You know what happens when you are poor? You get free healthcare, you get almost free college education, you get free food, surprised they don't give you a free vehicle

oh and we really ARE legit farmers, filing schedule F every year , just sent off our tax stuff to the accountant

You aren’t concerned about your information being handled by young men who may or may not share it with whomever? The do have the data, no one is contesting that. The group that took it may be very bright, but are they trustworthy? One was fired from an internship for sharing proprietary information with a competing company.

Maybe a bit more towards the topic. The bill (5717) which cuts federal funding to sanctuary cities starts in the next fiscal year, October 1st. That will give us a growing season or about more 6 months to be more ready for uncertain times.

I'll start.
We always made sauerkraut with our winter cabbage as we could only store it fresh for a couple months.
We have a big hoop house so I dug holes and put the cabbage wrapped in metal mesh bags upside down in the holes and buried them. Leaving just the roots above ground. They now stay fresh 6 or 7 months.
We get 20 below weather and put a frost blanket over the top when it's 30 deg or below.

I shouldn't have said anything. It's hard to explain when I was shooting from the hip and in the dark. I mean I don't know you, I don't recognize your name and have no idea about your posting history.

What I know is that one forum site was closed and merged with another, both sites under the same ownership - as far as I know. And... there's an underlying tension about it and some bitter feelings.

I personally don't see a problem with it, as long as members treat others with respect and try to participate on a level that's overall conducive to the theme and purpose of this site.

Much information can be gleaned from those who's viewpoints differ from the majority. Their participation should be encouraged, not discouraged. The goal should be to learn, not convert. If things eventually come down to a war - I would hope they don't - it is invaluable to know what's going on inside the opponents head, as oddball and wrong-minded as their ideas may seem to us.

Learning includes understanding that insults thrown at you are more damaging to the insulter than the insultee. This is generally very obvious to everyone else who is silently reading the thread. Sometimes we fall into the trap and become insulters ourselves. That is a hard one for all of us to learn, myself included. Especially "myself included".

While pouring a fresh cup of coffee, I counted the coffee wife has stored up.
The mid size plastic "cans", they are 28 oz. I can see 14 of those, no telling how many others she has. Those are only the ones out in the open.

That should be enough for at least a year, so I'd say we are ready for what life throws at us for a while.

theres a country or corp...thinking asia area...thats contracting with idaho/montana area farmer to grow lentils for them.it will be the bright orange ones.

heres a biggie for yall....there was a big apple orchard for sale in washington state...it was largest family farm or largest orchard there...it sold...guess who bought it...canada teachers retirement fund bought it...they didnt buy it was it to go up in value and then sale...they bought it for its profit making ability each year to put all that revenue into teachers retirements as on going injection of cash.all those funds are flowing outside our borders.
