Sorghum? do you know how hard it is to find quality molasses here in the South where it used to be king? even with 1800's technology they could make at least three healthy sweeteners. hog feed and liquor from the same crop and its by-products. the only real quality sorghum sugar comes out of Mexico these days and you have to grind it yourself!
look for an Amish store in your area, they will probably have some

Yep, I can get it at our little local store. And Table Syrup, another one.
Maybe we should send some to Magus.
our neighbors grew sorghum last year and made molasses out of it, they are now selling at the Amish store.
Yeah, ethanol is not good for engines. We get the non ethanol stuff for the equipment, Ranger and ATV , only use the regular gas for the vehicles
I think the USDA has screwed up the way agriculture is done in this country

Usually churches get paid for handouts by ramming religion down starving peoples throats.
Hey, there is something I agree with you....didn't think that was possible. But at the same time, would you rather Africa be Christian or Muslim? I think I would rather them be Christians, at least they won't come over here and blow us up!

Best thing would be to send them education in some way, and birth control, instead of food

yeah, but churches are some of the people giving them the food....it's not just the US government
yes...this was a church group....they wanted to do good by feeding but destroyed the local farmer.

i think everyone needs to keep their 'rear ends' home to be honest...lol....lets put all efforts inside our borders...good thing i aint emperor...i do executive order...lol

when i post all efforts i mean all efforts...tell them do gooders help your local community...if nothing needs it in your area go to next community over down the road...help ya neighbor..not neighbor across the globe..

I have volunteered at a food pantry in Albuquerque, and a good amt of fresh fruit and veg, and seeds were donated, but people tended to get more excited over the nasty day old bakery sweets that were picked up from the grocery store. I think people are used to eating highly processed junk. Gone are the days were groups of ladies would get together and do tons of canning (like applesauce). Except here. We still do that where I live.
There are other places that have group canning.....just not enough!!🙁

Screwed up or done on purpose??

We have a group that is always raising money for Tibetan orphans.....while montana has human trafficing going on and the highest suicide and alcohol related deaths on the highway.
If you have to step over a homeless veteran in the sidewalk on your way to a fund raiser for another country ......something is wrong.
How do you know that the bum on the sidewalk is a veteran? Fortunately I live in an area where there aren't any bums laying on the sidewalk.

At one time there was a group ..Volunteers in Service to America.. that did stay in the country.. Never heard if, how that organization finely ceased to exist..

Oh boy... This can be such a tail of two sides to a bad situation... We have all heard the stories of missionaries being run out of or killed in ..fill in the blank.. country.. I know people who have been on missions to Mexico, US and Canadian Indian reserves and reservations who came home wide eyed and in shocked disbelief at the bad reception they got there..

My personal experience... A good friend of mine, his mother-in-law was head medical officer at a local Indian Reserve medical clinic.. Every time they heard there was to be a ..missionary... group coming, they would stock up on ..physical assault kits... Kits for assaults of ALL kinds.. The thing being, no matter what kind of cess pool there environment appeared to be, it was there cess pool, not someone else and they don't want anyone telling them how to live there.. Would you like, tolerate, resist someone coming in telling you how to raise your chickens, raise your garden, stock your pantry, ..fill in the blank.. how to live.. Of course not..

To assist after a storm, tornado, flood, forest fire or other natural disaster is one thing.. The rest of this can be quite another mess..

My wife and I worked opposite shifts for the last 21 years. I just recently got a new job now that my kids are older, will be 16 and 14 this year. After Thursday we have 3 house payments left. My last job didn't pay much. Just my opinion but if we can do it so can others. People always want to complain and make excuses but the reality is that even during our rougher times my family lived better then 99.9% of all the people who have ever lived on this planet. So we have to work 40 to60 hours a week. Big freaking deal compared to how people lived even a 100 years ago. Heck I studied in the Amazon, my worst day is nothing for people I meet there. People just need to get over the idea that life is supposed to be easy. No one is shooting at me. I have central air and heat. I did a 19th century program where every day for weeks I started a fire with flint and steal. How much easier is it to flip a button. There's a lot of good and a lot of potential for good if you get off your ass and try. Again just my 2 cents, and as we know that don't go far.
