Ok, I'll bite (ignition pun), how do you have 4 spark plug wires coming off the distributor going into the copper pipe and magically have 8 coming out of the pipe going to spark plugs?

Simple.

That is a 4 cylinder engine, equipped with "Dual Plug Heads".

The wires are "spliced" in the tube..

I know it's a 4-cylinder.
That's what had me scratching my head (pun).
If both plugs are connected to the same wire:
It will only fire the plug with the closest gap, and if either plug shorts (like the one that never fires) neither one will fire.
Doesn't make any sense.

The only way it would make sense is if they had horrible electrode wear, it would have 2 plugs to wear out before it stopped firing.

My ultralight had 2 sparkplugs in one cylinder.

It also had two coils and two sets of points.
You could run it with either one or both. Two separate ignition systems.

That's the way they did it then....

Even as a young man, when "Dual Plugs" were getting popular on "Iron Head Sportsters" and Shovel Heads.... the "preferred method" was to "splice" the plug wire together at the magneto cap. Solid copper core wires.

Fire one up in the shop......and the radio "interference" was amazing! (could almost set the timing with the radio) LOL

Sold it to a great friend of mine and one of the few people on the planet that can understand the modifications I added to the electrical system and how quickly the bitch can kill you.
For about half what it was worth to get it a good home.
He gets everything, including my notebook during the build where I balanced the piston-rod assemblies to within 6 grams from the heaviest to the lightest (each weighs 1385 grams). Most were within 3 grams (about what a penny weighs).
Also the original receipt where I paid $360 for the forged pistons in 1984 that are in the engine. (that was a lot back then) Isky cam, lifters, springs and retainers.
40 hours of work porting and CC'ing the heads. And tons more.
Happy that she now has a future with a younger guy...
Sad to see the empty spot in the garage:cry:.

...But I can still hear her sing 6500 RPM:D:
