Hell, I've worked on semi-trucks and I can't even figure out the pattern he's shifting!Hey 42,
B Model Mack!
Came Factory with a "Quadra Plex" !
Oh, HECK YEAH!
That made my head hurt.Hey 42,
Left hand shifter is the transfer case. Conventional "H" pattern. Top left is "Lo Lo Split" (very seldom used). Bottom left is "Lo Split". Bottom Right is "Direct". Top Right is "Hi Split".
Right hand shifter is the Transmission, which is 5 speeds. "Lo" and Reverse are normally found at the far Left. (not always) "Three Gates", just like a 5 speed car.
For Lo, the right shifter will be all the way "back" and "closest" to the driver.
2nd can be at either the "top" or "bottom" of the remaining "H" pattern.
For sake of simple, make 2nd at the "top".
To drive: Put trans in Lo. Put transfer case in Lo Split.
Let the clutch out (the only time you use the clutch is to pull out). Shift transfer case to Direct. Shift to Hi Split. Shift Trans to 2nd & Case to Lo Split. Then Direct. Then Hi Split.
Shift to 3rd Lo Split, Direct, Hi Split..........
Down shift in reverse order. Mind your speed/gear selection....
I learned to drive one in the 70's working for Firestone (off road) Tires. Our Boom Truck had a Quad ra Plex....
Later, Mark
How in the world would you turn that thing without tearing up the tires?!?
