Deadly strain of yeast infection pops up in hospitals around the world

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is warning health facilities to be on the lookout for a multidrug-resistant type of yeast infection that has infected hundreds of patients across the globe. The infection has most commonly been contracted during a hospital stay of several weeks, according to a CDC alert to US clinicians.

We've had a good run of about 60 years with antiobiotics. The widespread overuse is making bugs tougher. I'm afraid we will see the death toll rising in our lifetime from simple infections similar to what previous generations did.

The CDC awhile back said it wasn't the over use of antibotics that caused the problem it was due to the doctors only prescribing for too short of time such as 10 days when it should have been prescribed for 15 days not allowing enough time for the antibotics to do it's job thus causing a resistant within the strain. Most insurance companies only pay for a set allotment of either 7, 10 or 14 days. It was once brought up that antibotics should be given for 20 to 30 days but the insurance companies and some states (welfare) bulked at the idea and was shot down.

In other words bureaucracy caused this not over usage ;)

Not even bureaucracy, but greed.
