Do you feel comfortable with "your" TRUMP expectations, from a prepping point of view...???

I'm cautiously optimistic (as Morgan said). I have high hopes but low expectations.

Harris was a mess! She wanted to tax 'unrealized gains'. That alone would have bankrupted many Americans, even the wealthy ones. It was completely absurd. Most people didn't even know about that and/or didn't realize what that meant. When I explained it to my mom, she didn't believe me.

I'm thinking something bad might happen between now and maybe mid-February. After that if nothing big and bad happens, I'll feel a little better. I'm not completely comfortable with the way the future might shake out, but it's gotta be better than what the alternative was. If Trump sets things back on the right path then there's probably going to be some financial pain, but at least there will be a good reason for it. That's better than the last 4 years when there was financial pain due to utter ignorance and incompetence with no relief in sight. I'm willing to take some pain to get back to real America for my kids' sake. As such, perhaps some new technologies (like a cancer cure) will make the process a whole lot easier to bear.

I like many of the people Trump has picked to oversee certain areas such as Patel, RFK Jr., Hegseth, etc. There are also some that I'm not so crazy about (including Elon) but are still better than what is there now or what would have been there with Harris. If Patel guts the FBI and shines a light on their shenannigans, that'd be great. If RFK Jr. sihines a light on Fakki, Gates, and Big Pharma, that'd be great. If Hegseth gets a good handle on gutting out the DEI rot in the MIL, then that'd be great. If Trump shines a light on all the money laundering that went on with Ukraine and other entities that the American people have been bankrolling for generations, then that'd be great. Maybe if all that money was not laundered and perhaps used to fund things for the citizens like SS, MC, and infrastructure then Americans wouldn't need to pay such high taxes.....yeah, that'd be great. IF DJT gets rid of the IRS like he said he wanted to, that'd be great too!

I don't necessarily think and expect all of those things to happen, but at least those people are talking about it and promising to do something about it. That already is far more than what was promised by the Dems. So, even if this admin does absolutely NOTHING, it's better than the alternative. Still, I think some of those things are going to get done and I do have high hopes but am prepared to be disappointed.

I see an opportunity to make things much better than they were, but DJT is only a man. He is not fallable, but he sure is better than what we have now or what we could have had. I will give Trump the benefit of the doubt but I will still maintain my own lifestyle the way I always have which means being prepared for an uncertain future. The will of Jesus will be done.....no matter what.
IMO I don't think we can totally get rid of the IRS. But their power could be curtailed. The best way to gut the IRS is to simplify the tax codes. Maybe go to a 3 bracket system with 0 deductions for regular wage/salary earners. It would look something like, 0% on anything up to 52k, 10% on anything between 52k and 200k, and 25% on anything over 200k. Maybe you could leave child credits in there, but most all other deductions disappear. But you'd still have entrepreneurs who have business expenses to deduct, and you'd have things like income from stocks and dividends to tax. I have no damn clue what to do with all that.

Personally am afraid that we have slipped too far in the last 4 years, domestically and internationally, to expect an kind of change for the "better". Actually we just had that conversation as my husband has confidence while I feel a need to double down on my prepping
Be optimistic but keep prepping!

The only one that worries me is RFK Jr.
If you listen to what he says, I think he is going to go overboard on the "Make America Healthy Again" thing. :(
Are chocolate bars bad for your health? Absolutely! Ban all of them!:waiting:
Now wait a daminute! Those are one of the few sources of true happiness for us healthy people!gaah

I am sorry you have had problems with your Polaris. I have 4, a 2015 Sportsman and RZR, a 2023 Ranger and a 2024 RZR. All are used heavily and zero issues. Trade that lemon in!
no money to trade it in and buy something else right now
we had a $1000 yamaha golf cart, for the first 4 years we lived here and it worked ok, but it's no longer running and there are no parts for it available because it was so old ( like 30 years)

I understand what you're saying, but we gotta start somewhere. I'm not willing to just give up and neither is DJT. However, If I were him, I'd have probably given up years ago. He didn't need to do this job to live a wonderfully fantastic life. I give him huge props for taking it on. I understand what it is like to do that on a much smaller scale, so I can't even imagine all the stress he has to deal with when he could be spending his time on the golf course without a care in the world. I don't think any amount of ego would be worth the meat grinder he has been put through. It runs deeper than that for him.

Chocolate is actually good for you in moderation. Nobody's touching my chocolate either man!

I don't think he's going to attack any 'food' in particular, but he might go after corproations that are adding in dangerous dyes and poisons. Many countries already ban those things. I'm not a huge advocate for more laws, but it seems that this would be a good idea. He may go after seed oils too, which had been advocated as a healthy alternative by our loving govt'. It's probably one of the worst things you can ingest. How about we go back to using lard and butter? They are healthier and IMHO taste better too, but I digress......

it went into overdrive when covid happened....
I think the Covid scam would have been far worse under Obama or Biden. It spotlighted how unprepared most people were and how easily the populace could be controlled by the silent boogyman bureaucracy. Many states were being forced to close down by unelected pawns. There's still lawsuits pending in serveral states over that whole debacle. The 'lockdowns' and tyranny would have been much worse with a Dem president.

With Trump's second term, I think perhaps the gloves might come off. He has nothing to lose at this point and I'm sure he's ready to shed some light on all the shenannigans that the 3 letter agencies and Dems have done to him. He talked big (she'd be in jail) the first time around and didn't follow through. Perhaps this time it'll be different. The Biden's, Obama's, Clinton's, and Bush's all need to be outed on how much money they have laundered with American taxpayer funds. I expect a wild ride the next 4 years.....but I don't know what that will entail. I'll remain hopeful b/c there's really not much I can do about it.
