The older ya get, the more you start appreciating things, or the more nostalgic you get....

Well, you got me on that one. I still haven't reached the pinnacle of being casually called "that crazy ol' man" ;).
.....but I am hard at work on it:D.

Christmas has been too commercialised over a long time, even if I were a Christian which I am not, I think I would find that the original spirit of the season has been lost to gluttony and greed.

that's what I mean, "stuff"!!!
its okay if someone is religious but Christmas seems to be all about the presents and the sales, not the faith, very few people in the UK go to church, the congregations are dwindling and a lot of churches don't even have services every Sunday and Vicars run sometimes anything up to 8 parishes.

my family has all passed away apart from a couple of cousins.
wife's family (daughter and SIL) are too busy to visit during the year never mind at Christmas.
anyway as Pagans it means nothing to us just another day in the year.

That's fine.
But I still have my family and we still celebrate Christmas.

I'll start an UNChristmas thread , just for pagans and we can all go there and be UNhappy.

Lonewolf,
What do you celebrate on the Solstice? Is it a religious celebration or a seasonal celebration?

Solstice means nothing at my house.
My wife is big on Christmas but I hate all the commercial aspects. It's all about what you get and what you buy.
My wife's family used to buy everyone a present. There would be hundreds of presents and it would take an hour to just hand them out. That was expensive and no one could really afford it so I finally got that stopped and they draw names. I even opt-out of that.
I will be putting up decorations and a tree just to make the wife and my brother happy.
Getting all the Santas out of the shed and sitting all over the house takes my wife days. She has over 400 Santas.

The true meaning of Christmas...
Isn't it about the love of God for His children? Isn't it about Jesus Christ and the miracle of his birth?
I found out about 28 years ago that just because I might not believe something, does not mean it is not true.

Sure it is...we celebrate this day for the birth of Jesus. Without that there is no Christianity.

The other side of celebrating Christmas came in modern times with Santa Claus , more for the kids ...I'm still stuck in the kid mode.

more of a seasonal celebration, as a pagan I have no interest in religion, its about all things natural.
