Yep aka "The Emperor's New Clothes" I just saw this post so don't know what it's in reference to.

Who Moved My Cheese Lesson #1

Be prepared for change: Pay attention to signs of change in your environment, whether it’s layoffs at your workplace, new aches and pains, or strains in your home life. Consider how potential changes could affect you and develop a plan to handle them – for instance, by learning new skills.

  • In the story: Mice Sniff and Scurry noticed the cheese stockpile getting old and dwindling. They were ready (they kept their running shoes handy) to search for a new supply when the old one disappeared.

Who Moved My Cheese Lesson #2

Let go of the past: When things change, move forward quickly. The longer you wait, the more resistance you build to moving, and the harder it’ll be to adapt later.

  • In the story: Sniff and Scurry were action-oriented, and set off immediately to search for new cheese. It helped that they also kept things simple and didn’t overanalyze or overcomplicate things by, for instance, getting hung up on “what if’s.”
  • In the story: Initially, Haw also stayed with Hem and wished for things to return to normal. But Haw came to his senses and realized the world had changed, and he had to change with it. Later he concluded that adapting to change is easier the less you wait.

Ah ha! I can attest to the part: the longer you stay put (or resist) the more difficult it is to move. I lived in the place up the mountain for 20 years - let's just say moving took almost a year. I realize they are also speaking metaphorically but it's true in either case.

Who Moved My Cheese
Many years ago, my company was going into an uncertain future with layoffs being a strong possibility. My boss bought a copy of that book for each of us in his department (he probably heard about doing this in some silly management seminar somewhere). We all read it there at work (it's a short book), and then like 95% of his department up and left for other places in the company. It was sad, but kind of funny too. This book gift really backfired on him. At least he didn't have to worry about who he would choose to layoff. It was pretty much just him and his secretary left after he gave out those books. I think all of us found better cheese in other departments for another 20+ years, then we all retired. Unfortunately, that boss was gone from the company within a few months of giving out those books. Last I heard he had become a Baptist minister in Louisiana. Nice guy. But someone yanked his cheese big time.

Which was my point of posting that book in this exact section of the forum.

I'm completely lost with what we're talking about now.
So, I have dropped to two Subtle clues in this missing members thread. Each pointing to what I feel explains part of reason for missing members.
