I love the thank you dance. It worked fine.
I haven't updated our number in a while, so I thought I would. It looks like we have 177 members today.
Is anyone still trying to bring over some of our friends?
Tweto? I know he has had some health issues. Does anyone know anything about him or heard from him?
And Dixie Mama? Goshengirl? Viking? JayJay? Who else?
I think some have contacted Pessimistic, but he is having some health issues. I have sent Padre a message, but haven't heard back from him. He hasn't been active in a while. I might be wrong, but isn't he African American? It is possible that some of the posts drove him away. ???Pandamonian ,Padre, Pessimistic.

Pandamonian? I must not have had much interaction with him and I don't remember seeing him in a while.
Gabby? Squerly? Geek 999 (survived 9/11)?
How many of you knew that Helicopter was no longer even an active member at the old hangout? I tried to message him and his profile was gone.
You and I might not think there was anything hostile, but I view things differently than others sometime, especially African Americans. I don't see them as total victims who are helpless and need us to take care of them. I do think we fail them by giving them everything they need to live: food stamps, housing, utility assistance, clothing handouts, free school supplies...Both Padre and I own hybrid cars a while back we were discussing the possibility of using the cars as emergency backup power. I messaged him about this but haven't heard anything back. I think he is part African American I think his mother is from Eastern Europe. Also I didn't recall any post that were hostile to African Americans.

I sure could be wrong about why we don't see Padre anymore, and I hope I am.

I liked it, especially when I first joined, but it has been declining over the years. It was lacking inspiration for me like it had when I first joined.I liked everyone there even if we disagreed sometimes hope they all come and join us. I do miss the other site but it had already started to change long before we all left. A couple got banned I seldom agreed with politically, but still learned from them in other ways.

When I first joined, there were about 75 active threads a day. I didn't follow all of them, maybe not even 1/3 of them because of all the activity. In the last couple years, there were days when there were sometimes as few as a dozen active threads. It was like the doldrums! Then it got a little more active, up around 25 active threads a day, but never picked up steam. I belong to another forum which has always been so active and has so much activity that I only recognize a few names.Maybe it was losing inspiration because you had learned so much from it and then maybe you were becoming somebody else's inspiration. A forum like this provides learning opportunities for all of us but it also provides teaching moments for all of us too. Our life experiences are unique and special. It maybe that one moment you experienced and shared that will make a life changing moment for another member. We all have gifts to share, we just don't know what they are yet.
I am so loving this new forum. I appreciate the fresh blood, the new start, the activity, being here with old friends. I know that when I get on to see what is happening that I will not want to yawn, but decide where I am going to interact!I still think we are doing good. I appreciate your updates, helps spread the state of the site. Stay warm.

I just did a quick count at the old homestead. There's been a total of 25 posts in January.
We typically have twice that many here in 1 day.
Somebody is doing something right.
