In all of the data, I am really curious who the very first member was? It was likely Swing or Havasu. Jim was certainly one of the first members.

And what was the very first day that this forum started? It takes things a while to get going, so what was the day that it was first conceived or discussed among those who started it?
I am member #1. I set this up, put in the forums, etc. When I got it there were no forums and basic user groups, basic emoji.

And look how far it has come!! You kept it a great place, with only occasional flare ups! Over a million posts and going strong!! Thank you Swing!!

I made that yesterday but was then seduced by a blonde divorcee with bright white teeth and had to make choices of being here when it flipped to 1 Million or getting my own counter one click up. I think I chose correctly, even if I missed the big celebration. Now I have to go back read to see if we know who the lucky 1,000,000 message poster was.

Thank you very much for building and hosting the BEST community on the internet.
At one time I belonged to around 100, and I can say that without a doubt this is the best.

I wish more of them would contribute. :(
I agree with you. When I joined other forums less than 2 decades ago, I knew nothing. I then asked questions. I do not consider myself an expert by any means. I am just someone who wants to learn. I am also someone who has always been willing to share what I know with others, not just on forums.

I wish I could contribute more, maybe this year will be better 2024 was non-stop problems and headaches and unexpected vehicle repairs and.....
Well, let's just hope this year is less 💩 for me.

Thank you all for everything here. I visit way more than I post, mostly to get my mind off other stuff. Sooooo,
Thank you all, again.

You contribute what you can when you can, and that is understandable. The people who post an introduction and then disappear are the ones that have me scratching my head.

I will post it so all can see, and I truly believe this. One of the beauties of this forum is that everybody is respectful, and willing to share information. You never have to be shy or embarrassed if you ask a question. You won't be criticized or ridiculed. I would also say that most of the time there will be people here who can provide good answers and good info on whatever topic it is. There is a wealth of information and experience on this site.

I hope this will encourage more people to post.

Almost every day there are people who have birthdays, but who have never posted, not even an introduction. I do look at their profile sometimes and see that they were on that day or a day or two earlier, but never post a thing.

You are much better than most of the people who have registered. There are so many people who never say anything. You do post and your posts are something that I almost always read.

We seem to have a core group of regulars. Some are daily posters, and some at least once a week. I understand that we all have lives and distractions.

I remember when the forum first started and I was so concerned about the lack of threads, anything, any discussions. We seem to be more social than other preparedness forums and groups, but I believe that it is the relationships that we develop that way that keeps some people coming back. The prayer requests, birthdays, concern for missing people all lend to building the community.

@Weedygarden you are absolutely correct about the social aspects of this forum. There are some hard core Prepper/Homesteader types here, but there are also many who only utilize a few aspects of prepping or homesteading. Many of us simply enjoy being more self reliant than most people, and learning tips and tricks about self reliance. Swing, Havasu, Jim, and all the others who were here on Day 1 laid a good foundation for everybody, including those of us who came a few days later. Thank you to all who had a hand in starting this place, and in keeping it running.

Even if people join and are not hardcore preppers or survivalists, they are still getting schooled about what they can do to improve their future life when S finally HsTF. They may not have years worth of food, but hopefully will have stocked up a little more, maybe made BOB's, or Get home bags, have prepared their vehicles and homes for SHTF events, gotten more socks! and stored some water.

I know some people would never want to live in a community, but if you think of living alone, like a lone wolf, what happens when you fall down and can't get up? Then what? Do you just lay there and wait to die? Or do you work on building relationships before hand so that in the event that you fall down and can't get up, that someone will come looking for you? That is why community is important, to help each other in times like that.

I don’t think of myself as a prepper per se. I have things in stock and am pretty sure I could survive short to mid term crisis. But I am a wannabe homesteader who would love to spend the future growing, catching and killing my own food and only go to the store for things I can’t make.

This community is fun. I like that there are many others like me. I really appreciate the insight, tips, advice and place to rant every so often.
