Sonya123, I’m not so sure even the young women of different countries know how to cook, everybody’s a princess these days. I have 3 daughters-in-law. One knows how to cook. One is not American born. One is an only child. My bff has a foreign born daughter in law who also does not cook.
Did you ever think this thread topic would be so popular? My weight is good. Any less would start to be a concern but I still have to be careful of what I eat or it’ll make me sick.

I think it depends on what country they are from. Western Europe probably like here, other countries people most likely still cook. I can see who cooks somewhat by the people that shop at our farmers market. A lot of younger families from other countries shop there ( many college professors or people that go to school there) . I hear often that they don't like typical American food , which I can understand, I don't like it either. I almost cried when I first moved here and had my first bag of grocery store white bread. I still can't eat that stuff unless it is toasted and has a ton of peanut butter on it LOL

What can't you eat? I didn't used to have a problem with my weight until I got old and past menopause LOL

Princesses I’m telling ya! One from India, one from the islands.
Undiagnosed. Irritable bowel or inflammatory bowel. High fats set me off so rarely eating meat at this point. Never drink milk. Cheese is okay. Eating a Whole Foods diet is best but it’s hard sometimes. Everyone wants to add mayonnaise and ranch dressing to everything! I can’t eat that kind of stuff!

Oh someone told me it could be canola or vegetable oils that make me sick. I don’t use either but eating out could do that. But at times eating chicken, rice and a vegetable dish or salad will make me sick. I’m not seeing how simple food such as that would make me sick. It’s been very frustrating.

wow I love Indian food, my favorite. Surprised she doesn't cook. But I suppose the upper classes in India have servants to cook. But LOL one of my best friends from the Caymans can't cook either. She tries but she really is a terrible cook, even her rice is underdone. LOL hope she doesn't read this, she is a very nice lady.
Sorry you have diet related health problems, that's not fun I am sure. My husband puts mayo on everything. I make a perfectly good meal of German burgers with our pasture raised lamb or goat, veggie and potatoes and he puts the meat on a piece of bread with a ton of mayo....uggh! LOL

my daughter is allergic to chicken. It took her a while to figure out what was making her sick. She is fine now but has to avoid ALL chicken. She can eat eggs but not chicken

I know allergies can be frustrating, but do they know any more on that allergy? Is it the protein, the fat, exactly what is the allergy? Or is it just chicken? How about ostridge, duck, cornish game?

I know someone allergic to eating chicken so they raise rabbits for their meat.
Eggs usually make me sick, past 10 years, I don’t know why. I can have them as part of a cake or cookies recipe, but not fried or scrambled. Omelets seem to be okay but I’m not skilled at them.
Quiche? NO.

just a specific chicken protein that is not even in chicken eggs. She got tested for it in the Navy after she kept being sick ( from the food which was a lot of times chicken) , she can eat all other poultry just not chicken

Mama had her bunco ladies over last night. Since the host is responsible for having dinner for all 16 gals, i thought i would help out by making a Penne Lasagna. Kinda like a baked Ziti, but i layered it with meat sauce, ricotta and mazarella cheese. The gals loved it. I also cleaned up the dishes so mama could enjoy her company. I was referred to as her "Cabana Boy". Between the long walk, the yard work, and slaving in the kitchen last night, I hit a new low weight goal of 212.6 pounds.

I used to play Bunco with some of the ladies at our church in Orlando. It was always fun. We usually all brought a dish and a gift
your ziti sounds good, I make stuff like that sometimes also and congrats on your weight too!!

That "Penne Lasagna" was so good, I had my grandson over for dinner last night, and he had 2 huge helpings of it. He loved it so much that we gave him another 4 servings to take home. I also had two "smaller" servings, but still woke up with another new record weight. 211.6 pounds, but I believe is was all the running around and my longer than usual walk yesterday in 86 degree heat that helped me get to this number.

It is mama's 69th birthday today. Although I bought her a $8600 bed for her birthday, her daughter asked me if she could have a small birthday party and dinner for her mom tonight. I said if she booked reservations, I would foot the bill. Yeah, I'm thinking pizza, but her daughter booked a restaurant on a cliff, with slacks and tie, dresses, $30 valet parking, etc. Yay me!

There goes my disciplined eating for the day!

You're a youngster! I am older than your mother.

how in the world does a bed cost that much??? Does it fly? Do dishes? Gold bars in the mattress?

have fun at the restaurant, that sort of thing would cause me anxiety

Well, first of all, the meal last night was fantastic. They had some really nice glasses of wine ($18) but the view from being on top of the hill was fantastic. I had their prime rib, which included wild rice, a 30' long salad bar, which included all you can eat clam chowder or vegetable beef soup, and cheesy garlic bread at the table. Of course, a few had desserts. I only ate 1/4 of my prime rib, but this is certainly not a place to go when trying to lose weight. I wore slacks and a tucked in shirt, which is the first time in years I've done that, but of course, I bumped a few pounds, but I'm sure after I walk, mow the lawn, and paint a room today, I will be back to normal. (I hope!)

Yes, the Sleep Number bed is pricey, but being a full split king, it does offer alot. It lets her tilt up, go to zero gravity, measures sleep, heart rate, REM sleep, auto snore elevation, timed lay flat, auto night light when getting out of bed, etc, etc, yada, yada. It is mama's 69th birthday, and that is what she wanted.

Holy cow! What will you guys do for the big 70?

I THINK Havasu was referring to his wife. But I’m not sure.

Not to be crude but I think a good poop to clear out your digestive tract will get you back down to weight. I don’t think you gain pounds in just one big meal.

Yes, "mama" is my significant other. We are not married, but she is the best thing I've had in my life since my ex nearly ruined me.

As far as your thoughts on my digestive tract, I too feel this will be just a minor set back.

As far as her 70th, she will get what she wants. I've saved a nice nest egg for these "golden years", and since there are no rich people in a cemetery, we are going to have fun with whatever time the "Big Guy" upstairs provides us!
