Do you have body armor in case of civil conflicts or war?

The only things an AR needs is a two point USGI web sling, and a bayonet.
No red dots, no optics, no lights, no bi pod, none of that jive.

That what my pops said until his eyesight started to go and I bought him an Aimpoint. Now that old man make me work to keep up with him at the range.

I am not one for adding weight that one does not need. But a good optic and a good light are essentials in my book. But I do agree about the two point sling.

body armor is largely unnecessary IMHO.

The US military and my employer would not agree. ***** are kicked and names are taken if you fail to put on the plates. Nor would the combat medics and field hospital staff. They are big fans of armor. Helps keeps them in business as dead men don't really need medics or doctors. But if you haven't walked a mile in those boots or trained wearing armor, then I could see where some could see it extra weight to slow you down. Like I typed elsewhere, there are times where I want it and times I don't.

And then after you are out the VA says your knee and back problems are not service connected.

Just stick with sitting in your chair . ( that's your own words )
That seems to be something you know about .
Yes, a figure of speech used tongue in cheek to describe a non-military, non-law-enforcement, non-militant person. It appears you are more the militant type. And in that case, you may have more cause for body armor.

But you don't really need to insult the other people in this world who are different from you and see no need for it in their personal scenarios.

But, but, they will be shooting at you to get to that huge food stash that you have prepped with!!! gaah

They already are. Police officers are trained to shoot two to the chest and one to the head already.
That's what I would do too, if I did not expect body armor. If I did (e.g., he was wearing a vest), I'd probably modify it to "two to the head, one to immediately below the vest". Then evaluate the effects and decide where to aim the remaining rounds.

Just for the sake of this thread. There is armor, and then there is armor and then there is armor. They are not all the same, they don't all restrict movement, and they don't all slow you down. But all of them provide some level of protection against flying metal projectiles. Some more so than others. If I knew someone was coming to shoot at me, I would prefer an MRAP. But a good plate carrier and helmet is a lot cheaper and easier to keep in my trunk.

Get sum? Is that Robocop on meth?

By the way, a skip trace round 2' in front of him would put him down real quick.

Come one now, we both know the right drug cocktail mixed with armor can keep a dead man walking long enough to do lots of damage.

Plus you have to train and train and train so you don't have to think, then act, then react when under stress. Otherwise people just keep missing, hitting the armor or stand there with slide/chamber lock on an empty gun waiting to die.

Yep, lost a friend who had 28 good 9mm hits on a meth crazed overweight man. He was able to walk up to the officer with a 12 gauge shotgun and killed the cop before dying himself. Autopsy determined 4 of the 28 shots were fatal shots. He was so drug induced, he didn't even know he was dead.
Distance is often your only friend when it comes to a firefight.

Hard to do when your adrenaline level is thru the roof, your opponent is moving, and you are moving too.

The AR15 is a very practical firearm . I've got one as do many of the shooters I know do . I can't count how many I've seen , but I've never seone with 15 pounds of anything bolted to it .
That information probably came from someone that follows Joe Biden's recommendation of " just get a shotgun " .
A shotgun such as a Benelli M4 can come in handy. An AR is nice as well.

My philosophy has been that getting very good with an AR (M4 platform vs M16 in my case) is the first line of effort. No scope, open sights. Then just add a simple ACOG and get really good with that. Much more is just bling. I'll be fighting at relatively close range if things ever go hot...no need for all the add-ons. Be lethal, as simply as possible.
