This topic isn't really worth starting a new post over. So this is just a info if you read it. Everybody knows that your "followed" on line but most people (& I was one of them) haven't got a clue how much/often someone is looking over your shoulder. In July of this year I bought a program that included AntiTracking software. It also keeps a record of how often & sometimes who your being tracked by. So since July my anti tracking software has counted companies trying to track me 4,724 times. Google has the most tries, Kohls, Lowes & Etsy come in 2nd, 3rd, & 4th. I find that very interesting. Of course the companies that try to track me would be different than those that try to track you.

Don't know who or where, and don't really care. If I want to drop off net, I know how.

+1 on the Brave browser - I use it pretty often. My new fave is Vivaldi which also has good tracker and ad blocking.

Is Brave open source?
Yes. The Brave Browser is built on the open-source Chromium Web core and our own client code is released under the Mozilla Public License 2.0.

Who owns Brave?
The Brave Browser, Brave Search, and all their various features are made by Brave Software Inc, an independent, privately-held company. Brave is not beholden to any other tech company, and works every single day to fight Big Tech’s terrible privacy abuses. Brave exists to help real people, not some faceless tech company.

What is the Brave Search engine?
Brave Search is the private, independent search engine that’s default for most new users of the Brave browser. It’s also available in any other browser at search.brave.com. Brave Search serves fast, accurate results from its own independent index of the Web, and offers unique features like a powerful AI-answer engine. Unlike some other search engines, Brave Search doesn’t profile you; it can’t share, sell, or lose your personal data, because it’s not collected in the first place. Learn more about Brave Search.

How do I download & install Brave?
Brave is available on nearly all desktop computers (Windows, macOS, Linux) and nearly every mobile device (Android and iOS). To get started, simply download the Brave browser for desktop, for Android, or for iOS.

Is the Brave Browser safe?
Brave is one of the safest browsers on the market today. It blocks privacy-invasive ads & trackers. It blocks third-party data storage. It protects from browser fingerprinting. It upgrades every webpage possible to secure https connections. And it does all this by default.
It’s also built off the open-source Chromium Web core, which powers browsers used by billions of people worldwide. This source code is arguably vetted by more security researchers than any other browser. In short, not only is Brave safe to use, it’s much safer than almost any other browser. Learn more.

A side-by-side comparison

Brave vs DuckDuckGo browser

DuckDuckGo is mostly known for their private search engine. However, they do offer a Web browser that’s available on Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows. It’s marketed as a privacy-protecting alternative browser, but when measured against other major browsers its feature set is limited.
So how does the DuckDuckGo (DDG) browser stack up against the Brave browser?
Let’s compare.

Is the Brave browser more private than the DuckDuckGo browser?

The DuckDuckGo browser does afford users some limited privacy protections. It blocks some ads (but only “intrusive” ones). It blocks some trackers (but allows Microsoft trackers). And provides some protection against fingerprinting.

Ultimately, the DuckDuckGo browser does not offer nearly as many privacy protections as Brave.
