sounds like what they call a "new town" housing development over here.

Update / Followup; still interested in one day having a homestead / Small farm I am currently saving as much as I can towards the dream thanks for all the comments, Plus am currently in negotiations with my GF regarding a 16 acre tract of land that her grandmother left to her and the possibility of using it for our forever place.

Hopeful that the dream is alive 🙂

Sixteen acers is certainly enough for that homestead . It comes down to what critters you plan to raise and garden size . I hope that acreage is in a good survivable location to survive what appears to be close at hand . Does it presently have any livable shelter ? What is the landscape like such as trees or water supply ? --- Keep us informed and if the 16 acers don't pan out we as a group can look at other possible options . Feel free to send me a private message if you need another approach to that homestead .

16 acres could definitely make a good homestead. Provided it has good soil, adequate rainfall/irrigation, climate and the type of livestock you plan on raising. Does this land have a well or spring for water? How self sufficient do you plan on being?
