How did I save money today?

Aren't I feeling like a half wit today!

My fine was $444.00 and last pension I paid $440.00.
That's what I get for reading the I infringement notice without my glasses.
I tried to pay it online but it wouldn't accept payments under $60.
So, today I have to get in the car and go to the Dept of transport and pay $4 so I'm square.
Shaking my head at the moment.

Well what a drama llama!!!!!!!

Got to the dept of transport only to be told that they were opening an hour late because of training.
Sat in the parking lot for an hour watching yt videos on my phone.
Finally got inside and went to pay my $4 and they didn't want it.
The lass behind the counter told me it was coming up as paid and "it's all right".
Urmmmmm...No. It's NOT ALL RIGHT. They can say it's all right now but dollars to doughnuts in 6 months time they'll spend squillions of
tax payer dollars to hound me to the ends of the earth, court cases and the whole catastrophe to get their $4.
Nope lady, I owe $4 and by the Living Christ I'm going to pay it.
*huge breath*
They were finally convinced to take my money and when I got home I realized she hadn't given me a hard copy of the receipt.
DOH!
I can't freaky win.
I need a nap.

I won at Bingo last night.
Won enough tomorrow go make the last payment of new laptop and pick it up.
Had lunch out with friends today.
My part of $40 total including tip was $10.57.
Also won enough to play next week too.

Day 3 of not spending any money today .

We had purchased pizza trays, dvd's and cups yesterday with an e-gift card already accounted for and today other things our shopping list also accounted for in our gift card purchase earlier.

Sold some metal fence posts today.
About a dozen of them got $35 for them
Only paid $25 for them.
So used fence posts money for baking supplies as grand daughter and I are baking for the holidays now.

I didn't spend $ today. Yesterday I found vinegar for $2.49/gal. A dollar cheaper than I've seen it in about 2 years. They had 2 gallons left so I got both. They are supposed to get more in so I will stop by again soon and get a few more if they are still the same price.

Which means no spending.
Tomorrow maybe different story.
Doing my yearly nice deed.
Working on hoarder's house.

Took gallon of sugar free tea with me this morning.
Along with slice of Pumpkin bread grand daughter helped me make.
Also too my homemade version of cup of noodle soup to hoarders house.
Even took microwave bowl, bottle of water.
2.5 minutes in microwave,which was clean I had hot meal at lunch time.
So no money was spent today.

its Sunday so I don't usually spend any money on a Sunday, but I had to top up my fuel tank( from half full) cost me the usual sum of £20 which is all I spend on fuel normally, about every 10 days.

Although we went down to the RSL club for Armistice Day the president wanted to shout us 2 soft drinks for helping each and he doesn't take no for an answer so our trip out today was free for the day.

Years ago I got a parking ticket and went downtown to argue it down. Got it argued down, it was something like $3. I paid in cash and asked for a receipt. Snotty woman behind the window said they don't give receipts. I should have written a check. Next month I got a bill with an increased amount. I was outraged. I don't remember if I called or went in, but "Did I get a receipt?" No, they wouldn't give me one. Come to find out, all fines that were paid in cash were not recorded and the clerks were pocketing the money. Eventually the clerks were busted.

I paid a $20 copay at a dermatologist for granddaughter a few years back. They were pocketing and I got a bill. I don't like using cards, but if it's medical, I pay copays with a debit card.

I learned that one with the allergist. They told me their card reader was down but I had no cash. I offered to write a check but they said I could go to the atm across the street after the visit. I forgot and went home. A couple of weeks later I got the bill and went in to pay it and there was a new girl up front. Said the old one was fired for stealing. No cash for now on.

This pension is a bust this fortnight with $37 after I pay license renewal for 5 years and the electricity bill.

Next pension is a bust after I pay for 6 months car registration.

I got one pension free and clear before I need to buy another yearly subscription for my phone and internet.

This time of the year is top heavy on big bills.
Maybe the sensible thing to do is save enough for 1 years registration and pay it when the 6 months runs out so it'll fall in the middle of the year instead of at the end.

Busted yesterday as we purchased another fuel card from RACQ but I did get $10.53 of free fuel because of our 5% discount.

Already counted previously in a gift card I found another 10 % off code with Woolworths so did a fortnightly grocery shop and combining another 5% off with our e-gift Wish card and weekly specials saved $31.94 on our fortnightly grocery shopping bill .

Not good one of our fuses in our new fandangled smart meter stopped working and we have lost the use of 3/4's of the home's power points so will definitely bust shortly to have that repaired. It couldn't of course have stopped working when we had the electrician out here fixing the lights and installing the stove could it .

Busted again today as had to buy some replacement recoil chainsaw starters for both chainsaws. DH pulled the chainsaw cord and the whole thing came off in his hand . I did however save a fair amount of money on 2 of the 4 by buying them on eBay saving $57.10 over the cost of buying them elsewhere.

Oh it is the sump pump that caused the short in the fuse so that will be another about $500 to get a plumber out to install another one. Good news is I picked up some paid cleaning work though.

Today is pension day. In one hand and out the other.

I'll be doing a tiny top up shop and thankfully I don't have to buy fuel for the car or grain for the chickens

You are doing so well @Tank-Girl and should be proud of yourself . Top heavy this time of the year for bills here as well but we put away x per fortnight away for all the bills and when they come in just pay them from the bills account which makes life so much easier. Once you have been doing it for a while you don't notice that you have less money at all.
