How did I save money today?

Up date on those garage shelves. Temu emailed me that they are out for delivery. Also got another email saying that because they were late arriving (not their fault btw) I get a $5 refund. A $5 refund on a $20 purchase. You got to love that!

My wife is so happy with her new folding shelves that she said she will put them away in the garage. So tonight before I go to bed I'll put them away. It's the thought that counts right?

I have a new project in mind, so started the envelope savings challenge for my target. Doing it this way so if I see materials I need I have the cash to hand.
I stocked up on some bits from a pharmacy store sale earlier this week; I think I posted it somewhere.
Last night went online looking for a particular herbal tablet for a family member, and realised the same store had even better offers on their site plus a 10% discount on the total.
I now have a years worth of shampoo & conditioner for the family, cod liver oil tabs and similar like vit c, paracetamol and sanitary products. Well worth a little maths; over the two purchases I've saved at least €150, and (even better) only bought good quality items we will actually use, so no waste.

I reuse plastic grocery bags. I know - Who doesn't. I have lots of black heavy plastic bags that size. They fit great in a 30pack beer box with flaps cut off, and top of bag pulled over top edge of box. They're my waste paper baskets, also for kitchen. Saved from my drinking days just for that purpose.

Today the one in kitchen with eggshells, coffee grounds etc. needed to be taken out but wasn't full. Took some trash items from house cleaning in a larger bag to fill the smaller bag. I hate throwing out a trash bag that isn't full.

I saved twice on the same purchase today. We got Sam's flyer & the sales started today. My wife made a large list of sale stuff & this morning, off I went with her credit card. Her card is the main card because she opened the account there. So I bought a whole bunch of sale items, some I stocked up on like fish oil (I take 10 a day) & frozen pizza. And I paid with her card so it asked me if I wanted to pay for it with our built up Sam's cash, Yep! So $203 of free food & we still have more Sam's cash to spend.

Oh & we use our Sam's card to charge out monthly bills so it builds up fast & saves us from writing a lot of checks. I love free money!!!!!!!!

I guess we saved some money yesterday. We do our main shopping in a state that doesn't have sales tax, plus Tuesday is old timers day at the farm/ranch store. All purchases are 10% off. So our $1,000 purchase was "only" $900, plus we saved 6% on the sales tax. The only drawback is its a 200 mile round trip, but its worth it. Some of the local businesses around here we are tax exempt because of the ranch. So we actually pay very little sales tax here too.

Ok, this was a spend money. A while back I noticed that my wife had shoes all over the floor of the closet. Odd considering that we had 3 shoe racks. So I proposed replacing all of the racks with one larger shoe cabinet (that looks good). She liked the idea & went through her shoes to thin them out. The rack came in & we put it together (nice looking) & now all of her shoes are neatly in the cabinet in our bedroom. The old racks we have already given away. I don't mind spending a little to upgrade something in our house. And she is going to move her jewelry case into the closet & in it's place will be a VERY pretty little table that she bought.
