If money was no object, what would you do for prepping?

What ya gonna do it shtf situation doesn't happen in your life time. . . File bankruptcy? We've had this conversation before although you had a different user name then. My views haven't changed. I don't want debt, but yours haven't either, apparently.

I dont believe that you need to spend anywhere nearly as much as you assume. There's going to be a time period that you can see it coming, use 10k of credit cards to stock up on whatever. You can always just blow it off if things correct themselves somehow. I didn't say waste a million $ on a piece of property, the "rights' to which wont exist if shtf.

I would move to remote villiage, and prep the village itself.

I would establish resources for everyone, so there would be a village doctor, a village dentist, and so on.

I would distribute resources to the different household, and approach the SHTF even as a prepared unit.

I would have panels on every roof, multiple generators, lots of fuel.

It would have to be run carefully, because people might mistake it for a cult...which I don't want.

My huge warehouse would be filled with supplies for everone.

move somewhere remote, very remote, no near neighbours, with more land than I've got a present, either in or near woodlands close to a river, stream or spring. property dosent have to be large but must have either barns or sheds or room to build them, good ground is a must for growing.

That sounds ideal. At some point though greed kicks in and someone wants to be the only one to sleep with all the women and they make you drink cool aid.....
Seriously, I’ve always thought that working as a community was the only way to really do well. Religion usually binds people together for one common cause, but then gets distorted one way or another. It really would be great to organize a group of people that just had prepping, farming and working together as the main goal.

it would be nice to have unlimited funds, like our government seems to think. I was considering what I would like to do prepping wise if money was no object. Three things came to mind right off.
First off would to buy a better piece of property. Larger, more remote, good water source, etc. what I have now is pretty good and I’ve got no complaints, but it’s nice to dream.
Second, I would like the house to be bullet proof. Most people don’t realize that even a 22cal can go through most house walls. If an armed roving gang ever attacked, your house is not a good place to make a stand. In all those old western movies men were protected by cabin walls during shootouts. Trust me, don’t try this in the real world. I’m thinking 12” block, filled with cement. I’ve read that will stop a 50cal.
Third would be energy independence. A really good solar system would make one less thing to have to worry about.
I’m just curious what other ideas are out there.

this is an old post, but nice to think about.
1. My property is good spent years finding the perfect piece, but the way houses are being thrown up and subdivisions are being created i worry how long my quiet beauty will last.
2. Yes being off the grid is a dream of ours as well.
3. i would love to be able to build the underground bunker or safe room... i watch dommsday preppers on tv and so many of them make me laugh. it not to offened, its because most people who really prep dont have the expendable cash laying around to order a years worth of freeze dried food for a family of 6, or to have their own silo of grains or waters.
4. I want to help my kids prepare. my baby who is now 18 has a great job etc, but i want him to be able to take care of him and his little family if something were to happen and he couldnt get to me.

Well I happen to have it planned out. This is the readers digest version. This would be 50-100 acres of land.

1. Located at least 60 miles from a significant metropolitan area.
2. Not located near a highway or major roadway.
3. Sustainable water source preferably from a creek, stream, or pond – in addition to a well.
4. Not attached to municipal water lines or sewer system, but a private septic system.
5. A substantial portion of the land is usable for hunting and firewood harvesting.
6. Accessible only by 4-wheel drive vehicles.
7. Located at the end of a dead-end road – bonus points if the road is gravel or dirt and not paved.
8. Property has a long and secluded drive that prevents the home and growing areas from being viewed from the road.
9. The home and large portions of the property are surrounded by hills, rugged terrain, or mountains.
10. The prepper compound has significant southern exposure areas for gardening and growing areas.
11. Multiple power sources, solor, wind, firewood, propane, hydrolic, with diesel/propane generators.
12. Stored food and supplies for 2 years. 1 year of long term food for all residence.
13. Enough weapons and ammo for everyone forever and the capability to repair and do reloads.
14. Chickens, pigs, ducks, goats, sheep, dexter cattle and horses.
15. Main field garden, several raised box gardens, greenhouse garden. Fruit trees and variety of trees.
16. Buildings made of concrete filled cinder blocks with metal roofs. Bulletproof double windows, UV filtered air system.
17. A water well and a creek or spring fed pond. Water filter systems and 1000 gallon tank.
18. Medical supplies for 10 years and medicinal plants and herbs.
19. Tools and hardware for everything on the compound.

Can I be in your MAG? Lol you took my plan except I'd like to add full berms around the compound.

Well, I've got 1-10 anyhow. The rest need some work but are easily attainable. #6 depends on the time of year. My 2WD pickup can make it because it has good tires and good ground clearance, while some 4WD vehicles would get stuck. Especially the lame excuses for SUVs people drive nowadays.

If money was no object i would like to finance a 1 year world wide trial run of SHTF and see how well we all do.
Would this trial be run with the knowledge of CV it by the many? Because honestly, even at a full year, I don't think we'd get a true result, most people would respond differently during a trial if they know it's a trial, than not. Mostly because they would know there's an end to it. I like the idea of trial runs for myself, because it is great to work out the kinks, and fine tune a plan. But don't think that it would work world wide, or even nationwide.

That would put me in the 1% group where I just buy everything, and act like everythings alright , that's not a prepper, you have to live the life .
