You are definitely not alone. I feel much the same way. I don't know if it is old age, or a been-there-done-that attitude. IMHO with the old age comes a lack of patience, especially with other peoples' stupidity. We used to attend a lot of crowded events, concerts, sporting events, movies, theatre. Now we don't go anywhere, and have no desire to go. I don't want to fight the crowds or the traffic, or the parking. I don't want to spend the money on things of very marginal interest.
Grocery stores, Walmart and other big stores are packed full of folks older than me who are inconsiderate and oblivious. Getting older has diminished my patience and tolerance for that nonsense. But as some people get older, they lose any consideration for others around them that they may have had when they were younger.

bkt it's not just older people. If I had $50 for every person that has put the cart on one side of a grocery isle & then stood in the middle of the other side of the isle I could buy me a bmw.

No you aren't alone. Before covid killed 24 hour markets I used to shop around 4:30 am. After the tweakers went to bed and nobody else was up. Now I go at 6:15, just after the early bird rush ends.

It's not just old people who are inconsiderate, the whole of society is. Younger people are far worse. Look at the road rage, or gawd forbid... try asking someone to put their rotweiller on a leash. There are people who will kill you over a simple request. We had a gunfight between 5 people in the Lowes parking lot, and a guy (road rage ahole, ran into a better gunfighter) was killed right at the entrance to Walmart. I walk on his grave a couple times a month. Most customers have no clue.

Neither wife nor I care for crowds anymore. Too much stupid now. Just last weekend in our formerly small town desert resort, a cheap little carnival came to town. There was a fight involving 60 low life teens. I don't want to get into a no-win situation like that. We used to go to the various community festivals, but have pretty much stopped other than the farmers market. We are lucky our town has an open air ampitheater for concerts. Our last concert was a couple months ago, when Jason Aldeen came here (Try that in a small town). That was a well mannered crowd. Lot of cowboy hats and rodeo buckles, and didn't see a single raiders hoodie, tattooed face, or saggy pants.

I am cond Orange every time I leave our HOA. I stay off our main highway through town as much as possible and actively avoid people as much as reasonable anymore.

Give me a mountain stream, wind in the pines, or a desert trail anytime. I'm happiest in the high country. Shouldda been a cowboy.

Am I the only one who as they get older they dislike anywhere there's a large amount of people (eg; Walmart, grocery stores festivals etc.) sometimes I can go places and do the whole society/ socializing thing and other times it just pi**es me off because of the sheer amount of stupidity that exists in society today!

Please tell me it's not just me?!!
Not just you 🫨

Gah! Don't get me started on airports. I've been lucky enough to only fly once in the last two years, but before that I was flying four times a month. There is nothing about airports that is a good experience. The only positive is when you can get in and out quickly. That's why I like small airports. Last summer for vacation I did a round trip from Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Punta Gorda/Fort Myers, Florida. Those two airports were a good experience. Get in, get out, nobody gets hurt...

I've never liked crowds. Fortunately I live in an area where there are no crowds. But through my past working career and travels I've been to some pretty congested places; Tokyo, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, Rome etc. I'm glad that I'll never see any congested area or crowds again. I have no patience for stupid, rude or inconsiderate people.

I have to admit that post was quite esoteric.

It was from the musical Camelot with Lancelot confessing how perfect he was. Shortly thereafter he meets Guinevere who suggests he investigate what the virtue "humility" was all about.

Yep. Too musical nerdy.

Small airports. Yes. OKC has a small airport but they have worked hard to make it seem bigger. You have to go through security on one end of the airport and all of the planes dock at the other end.

Anchorage has a small airport. We lived there 5 years and I loved it.

We lived in Groton, CT and that airport was like the one on the sitcom Wings. That was the best.

Sooner or later you have to touch a big one. We have a layover in Charlotte, NC on our way to Rochester, NY in a couple of weeks to avoid Chicago. We've done Charlotte before........not huge but a big mess. Still better than Chicago if you know what I mean.
