That's how we did it in the Keys, bonefishing on the flats. It's only a foot or three deep. There were some spectacular wrecks down there when people couldn't read the water. Other areas if you come off a plane it's so shallow, if you stop the prop settles into the mud/sand and you are done. Have to get out and wade. So you use a pole to push the boat. It's also quiet.
