Angie, you may have fallen victim to Conceptual Confusion. That's often a problem with "Sayings". Some of them don't travel well.

5 or 6 is best, 4 is acceptable. The rest could be cooked more so still good too
Number 4 is the only eatable bacon.
1 ,2, & 3 are raw and 5 & 6 are burnt.
Bacon should be firm but not crunchy.
I'll eat #4 all day long straight off the plate and put #5 on BLTs.

The state fair of Texas (in Dallas in Sept), has deep fried EVERYTHING!! It's just one big gross competition!! Deep fried butter was a runner up last year, YUCK!
