A steel rod or bolt would be fixed in the center of the stump. A 2 x 10, at least 18ft log was used, a hole drilled in the center. The plank went over the stump bolt and would get a lot of grease. Two kids would get on, one on each end. Other kids would start to push, turning the board into a horizontal propellar. Faster and faster, eventually one kid would go flying...
See-saws were also dangerous. Really long boards, no handles, and the heavy kid sends the light weight flying.A cousin had one. When the hole in the board got wallowed out it could double as a see-saw. A little bumpy but what could be better than a spinning see-saw?
@Supervisor42 That stump is cut too low. With a 4ft stump kids could push faster and duck when needed.
That was also handy for slinging the vomit off faster.quadrupling the rotational speed
