I had measles or mumps that had me hospitalized but my father can't remember which one. I remember the chicken pox but not the other.
I was just wondering how far back records are kept. I remember going to a particular clinic when I was a child, but that was 60 + years ago. I cannot imagine they still have my records, or if they do, how easy they would be to find.

When I was 19 I wanted a copy of my records from the military. They said they were on microfilm and they didn't have to look them up so I couldn't get them. No idea if they still exist or not.

I write plenty of letters for genealogical records, I am going to see what I can come up with getting copies of my childhood health records.

Still on a rant. And to hear these people get up and speak about vaccines that have been safely used on millions of people over FIFTY-YEARS, are suddenly too dangerous for their little "special snowflake", remind me of my macho buddies years back explaining that they would never wear a seatbelt because they had heard a story about some lady that drove her car in the lake and still had her seatbelt on when they pulled it out so it must have trapped her in:rolleyes:.
Only a couple of my buddies died proving what is left of a human body after diving thru a windshield.
BTW, I died on 10-04-89.
Oh wait, I had my seatbelt on:).
To anyone pondering if their vaccination from 40-50 years ago is still good, just get it redone.
Takes only seconds.
If you didn't need it, nothing happens, if you did need it, nothing happens (when you would have gotten sick).
Find something else to worry about, like if your tires still have enough air in them.

Roald Dahl on Measles: "Olivia, my eldest daughter, caught measles when she was seven years old. As the illness took its usual course I can remember reading to her often in bed and not feeling particularly alarmed about it. Then one morning, when she was well on the road to recovery, I was sitting on her bed showing her how to fashion little animals out of coloured pipe-cleaners, and when it came to her turn to make one herself, I noticed that her fingers and her mind were not working together and she couldn’t do anything.
'Are you feeling all right?' I asked her.
'I feel all sleepy,' she said.
In an hour, she was unconscious. In twelve hours she was dead.
The measles had turned into a terrible thing called measles encephalitis and there was nothing the doctors could do to save her. That was...in 1962, but even now, if a child with measles happens to develop the same deadly reaction from measles as Olivia did, there would still be nothing the doctors could do to help her. On the other hand, there is today something that parents can do to make sure that this sort of tragedy does not happen to a child of theirs. They can insist that their child is immunised against measles.
...I dedicated two of my books to Olivia, the first was ‘James and the Giant Peach’. That was when she was still alive. The second was ‘The BFG’, dedicated to her memory after she had died from measles. You will see her name at the beginning of each of these books. And I know how happy she would be if only she could know that her death had helped to save a good deal of illness and death among other children."

WHO KNEW...NOT ME!
Measles virus can suppress the immune system, leading to a phenomenon known as "immune amnesia." This means that the body forgets previously acquired immunity to other viruses and bacteria, making individuals more susceptible to infections they may have been protected from before.
Immune amnesia can last for several months to years after measles infection. During this time, individuals may be more vulnerable to infections such as pneumonia, ear infections, and other respiratory illnesses.

Ok, you got me back on the soapbox again.
I read back thru my previous posts to make sure I didn't repeat myself...
The last vaccination this 'anti-jab' guy took a year ago, was the MMR.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/MMR_vaccine
I love a good 3-for-1 bargain. :D
All three vaccines in that one have been test-drove for 50 years, and proven safe, by us test monkeys.:)
Why people today will risk dancing with diseases that we almost drove into extinction, is beyond me.
The MMR vaccine is widely used around the world. Worldwide over 500 million doses were administered between 1999 and 2004, and 575 million doses have been administered since the vaccine's introduction worldwide. Measles resulted in 2.6 million deaths per year before immunization became common.

I wonder if people used to do this? I think some did? (Expose their children)
On the farm we played in dirt, animal poop, old chicken houses and barns, made forts in the woods and raided the county dump for neat stuff other people chucked out, we were minimally exposed to every disease in circulation at the time, if you want to build your kid's immune system, let him be a kid!
