it's been here some where in some thread about rabbits, got me thinking as I have a spare room, that building a cage and raising rabbits indoors wouldn't be that hard and by that I could cover my cravings for meat,if things got bad...

You couldn’t go wrong with rabbits Jontte. Easy to raise. Quite and easy to process. Not to mention the most meat per feed!

Sounds stinky to me!

you just have to keep the cage clean and dry...and those critters are silent too..
my thoughts about them too GeorgiaPeachie, it's all about keeping clean and in some shtf scenario, keeping clean may be the difference between life and death.

Exactly. They are not stinky and their poo is nothing near as bad as cats!

I have shied away from animals for food. I would bet the lives of my children that within 10 minutes or getting rabbits or goats, or even chickens, all of them would have a name, and they would be sleeping in bed with us. My wife would slit her own wrists before she harvested and animal.

I will just have to take my chances with the Butcher or Grocery stores, and wild game if it came to that.

While I understand the challenges, you might want to rethink that IF things turn bad and you are pretty certain meat is going to be an issue. Even your wife, if hungry enough, won’t have a problem with eating pet rabbits.

GP, I hear you, and I agree with you, but you don't know my wife. She would eat dirt before she would eat what she would call a pet rabbit. I'm just sayin'.

Not completely true. There's a nasty disease that's been spreading that kills rabbits, I can't remember if in a few days. The last hours, the rabbit starts screaming in pain. Horrific from what I hear, and it kills the majority of rabbits that get infected.

Morgan, the key is the names you choose for the animals. "Fajitas". "Condon Blue". BBQ. Pick names for the animals that reflect their destination.

RHDV2 virus. It is called Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease and it is like a rabbit ebola, and just as contagious as ebola. It is confined to lagomorph species like rabbits, hares, jackrabbits, and pikas. It is currently spreading in the US Southwest.

The USDA fact sheet: https://www.aphis.usda.gov/publications/animal_health/fs-rhdv2.pdf

Since it is spread by direct contact, not through insects like Rabbit Fever (Tularemia) as long as your rabbits have no contact with other rabbits they are safe.

I saw this article today about another ransomware attack on our beef supply. One-fifth of US beef production was wiped out after JBS paused processing at five of its biggest beef plants which manage a total of 22,500 cattle per day. That is huge! This right after the oil pipeline attack. . . It just have to make you wonder since these involve 2 of the big push agendas. Going green and eating less meat and when you do eat the fake stuff. . . Is this just another government propaganda? Is our own current Democratic government trying to just lead the sheep?? Or am I just crazy for thinking this way?

Cattle futures have already dropped 3% and will likely to keep dropping, while feed costs have gone way up. The meat prices in the grocery stores and restaurants will skyrocket.
I've decided to try and sell most of my cattle because of the high cost of feed. I can't afford to feed them this winter. With beef prices dropping, to the producer, I can't afford to feed them and I can't afford to sell them.
This is the new world we live in now. Welcome to the Communist States of Amerika. Thanks Biden voters.

Clearly, you are a conspiracy theorist.

According to this mornings news, the JSB company will be back on line today, after a shutdown yesterday.
It was funny to listen to the pundits try to spin it as the Biden WH was "involved" in some way, shape, or form as if their involvement in the pipeline ransomeware attack amounted to anything.
From initial readings, the company was aware of the attack Sunday, took action to mitigate the impacts. Good on them.
However, they are a corporate company with their own IT department. How many other companies are putting the same amount of monies toward security? Infrastructure like public works, ran by local, state or even federal government?
Having worked in IT, security is usually applied at the very end, almost as an after thought.

Maybe so @Helen Back. I have known the government and media have lied in the past, but after seeing their continuous lies over the last 5 years, especially the last year and a half where they are no longer even trying to hide their lies, it's no wonder why there are so many conspiracies popping up. We can not trust anyone, even our "leaders" who are supposed representing us for our best interest. The only thing we can do is "guess" what they are up to.

I don’t believe the govt had anything to do with this hack or any others. I also don’t think they are competent enough to solve this problem either. All I am sure of is the cost of most things will continue to rise, partially from the hacking ransoms and added security costs and partly by the vast and irresponsible spending from our incompetent government.

You do realize that the Biden administration told companies that they are going to have to protect themselves. . . They are doing nothing!

Jen Psaki blamed the private sector for getting hacked and told Fox News reporter Peter Doocy to ‘track down the Russian hackers and have a good chat with them.’

It was supposed to be funny, sister. You know I think you're great.

Check the calibration on your sarcasm meter
