Proud daddy moment. My son, a Junior at SLAM Academy in Nevada, was a key player in the football teams first win after 3 consecutive years in the championship game against Truckee, Nevada winning the Nevada 3A football Championship. I skipped work (with the bosses permission) and made the 3 hour drive south to watch the game. Even prouder daddy moment, my son as the right offensive tackle made the key block to allow the runner to make the game winning touchdown in the 4th quarter. There were still 3 minutes to play, daddy was very concerned, but the defense intercepted a pass and allowed our offense to run a couple of plays before kneeling on the ball to let the clock run out and secure a victory.
After a 3 hour drive home, and a couple of drinks to relax, this proud daddy is ready for bed. It was a long 14 hour day for me including the dinner I bought for my family (and Ex) and my sons best friend and teammates family. I drove home the entire way without the radio just thinking about the day. Oh, I did stop in Mesquite Nevada at the Walmart and waited in the parking lot for about 15 minutes watching an officer search a bad girls car without backup to make sure he was safe until another officer arrived. Told them I was retired LEO and wished them a safe night before heading into the store.
