New Prepper

I have decided to begin to prep but am not shur where to start. I have a decent alice bag, knife, torch and compass. I live in the countryside near a river and 5 miles from the sea. there is an overgrown area 1/2 mile away in a field. I would really appreciate any tips, tricks, and gifts (Optional).
